Default Twisted Trails

so what's the scoop on this place? new owner? new management? the guys who were running the place were super cool (the people who put on the extreme truck challenge) and now it seems like things are changing.

Beefy and crew did a great job running race #3 for RBOR, but it seemed like TT tried to put a dark cloud over the event.

are we going to have another truck challenge?

figured I'd bring it up since someone has to be in the know.

New management

We have dealt with the owner and Rangers at the extreme truck challenge.

Hard to say if it's the new people or is it orders from above. But the park had a very different feel to it.

Hope it works out because we don't have enough offroading areas in Michigan as it is.

Haven't been up there in a few years, but have they done anything about trail marking or main trails?

Always seemed like I went down the same trail 10x and found 1 or 2 new trails every time I went.

Nope, nothing.

I wish they would make improvements and add new obstacles but unfortuntely they lost part of the land due to the neighbors not wanting us on it anymore.

Seems they bank on the dog parties and dont need much more than that.

The new manager did seem like she wanted to keep RBOR there but we did not feel welcome while we were there. After the race she did come and talk with us and we both agreed it should have went smoother but it is her first year running the place so lets hope it only gets better from here.

Yes they have new management and they are working out the bugs of the new system.

I know they are putting a lot into upgrading the camping area and actually going to be putting a storefront in now so that will put them leaps and bounds ahead of the other parks in Michigan as far as camping goes.

We worked through most of the issues with them for the last race but there was headaches none the less. Hopefully they can work with us to ensure things go smooth for next season. I know I said it at the awards ceremony but thank you everyone for being patient with us working with the new management as well

I was wondering if something was different when I didn't see Dale there. Also thought it was odd when I heard you @1TFROT getting scolded for going over 5mph when leaving the campground area to line up for the race (seeing how you're such a hot rodding wreckless rebel) and you guys (the RBOR competitors) were the only ones in the campground.
I get it, there's rules and they should be obeyed, but it's not like you were driving a whomped out 94 blazer with broken springs, rusted brake lines and a coooler full of Twisted PBR to drink on the trail. (note: probably just rumors)
If they think that going over 5mph coming out of the campground is a problem wait until a Dog Party

No matter what, it's an ok park and improvements are always welcome.

that was funny @NightKrawler. I was cool about it and said sorry, but yeah, I hear ya. hell, I've been airborne in that grass lot during the truck challenge. and lord knows I wasn't even pushing the limits of the buggy when he saw me. oh well.

that incident and the whole flag thing got me thinking.

btw, what happened to/with Dale?

Dog Party is all hillbillies in busted down ZJ's that should have gone to Cash For Clunkers crashing into each other and spilling their Natty Light everywhere.

I guess if that's the crowd they want, then they are doing great lol, but if they are changing from that direction, maybe I'll go back.

Yeah they have a nice variety of trails and terrain. It could be a good park.

that's only on dog party days. Any other weekend its just like any other off road park I've been to. I know its on this site. Don't like dog party? don't go. Just don't let that prevent you from an awesome park because they let the mudbillies get wild a few times a year. Most weekends its dead and during comps its amazing up there. Way more laid back than all the other parks in Michigan.

They get to go wild but we got yelled at all weekend.

Wonder of she had a heart attack from them, she was a bit uptight. Hope she didn't

I wasn't able to make it out to the RBOR race due to our cherry harvest, so I'm not familiar with the "new" feel for the place. I did go out for Saturday afternoon of "MudStock", and it was no different from other times, and I talked with a few people who were out there this last weekend for the "Summer Dog Party", and didn't hear about anything different.

What type of things made you feel unwelcome and dark cloud covered?

i dont! i spend my money elsewhere.

if i go some other weekend, it seems like i support their way of doing business.
so i dont.

im hoping the new management figures out the problem before some kid gets hurt, or worse!

i will probably check it out again, on a different weekend, and hope it gets better.

Precisely, and, I spread the word, one way or the other.

There are other parks I support, and spread the positive word about, because I like how they are run.

I guess we all have differing views on the subject, and are all free to handle each park as we see fit.
