Default 2017 Colorado ZR2 Diesel Build

Starting to finally get into building our ZR2 and decided we should showcase some of it here.

Specs:

2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Crew Cab Diesel
-Factory front and rear lockers
-Factory Multimatic mid travel suspension
-2.8l Duramax (VM Motori) 4 cylinder diesel
-Factory vinyl floors/heated leather seats

This is the rig we are building from and using to showcase our products for our company 589 Fabrication. I'm sure it will change it's looks repeatedly.

So far, this is what we have on it:

-Rear Shock Skids
-Bed Mounted Hi-Lift Jack
-Bed Mounted Spare Tire Carrier
-Fullsize front winch bumper
-GDE Engine Tune
-ARB Compressor mount
-Smittybilt 9500 synthetic rope winch

In the near future it will have:

-285/70r17 Falken WildPeak M/T tires
-17" Beadlock wheels
-CB radio

Here is what it looked when we bought it:

Putting the logo on the side:

Shock Skids:

Spare tire mount:

Last summer we took it out to St. Helen, Drummond Island and the Sand Dunes.

Put a nice gash in the tire.

Shock skids taking a beating on Drummond.

Top of Test Hill.

St. Helen Tubes.

Around Thanksgiving we got our Fullsize front bumper finalized and installed.

Then the snow came.

I'll keep updating here as we change stuff to it. Should have some more updates as we get it ready for Snofari!

Looks interesting, but I'm excited to see you actually fab something for it... It'd be cool to see a rear shock relocation kit to help with that ground clearance issue in the rear. I'm sure it'd be nice in rocks.

Also, obligatory reminder that Duratrac sidewalls are made of paper and should probably not leave the road.

Mid 20s. The ZR2 doesn't do as good as the regular Colorado with it's decrease in aerodynamics.

Well, that still isn't bad... My '13 Sierra wont squeak out more than 18mpg highway. On a mixed highway back roads trip up north, I still did not even get 20.

How fast are you driving? my 09 used to get over 20 mpg highway at 70 before I added a lift and tires, my '14 (new body style) would get 21-22 at 70 before I added bigger tires.

Zr2 looks good, I really like that front bumper, a lot. I have been curious how the aero on those trucks is since the front bumper comes up so aggressive in front of the tires, I'd love a bumper like that for my silverado, but even just removing the air dam kills the mileage so I've been hesitant.

75-80mph on the freeway, 60-65mph on the back roads.

Looking good Thomas. Do you have beadlocks picked out yet? Ours should be coming along shortly, tooling and all that jazz is done and samples made, we're just ironing out a few details.

He fabbed all the parts that are on it. That's what his aforementioned company, 589 Fab, makes. This is his personal truck and test mule for new products.

The bumper is pretty slick, but other than that it's a stock truck with extra skids. I guess to clarify, I'm excited to see what performance upgrading fabrication they do to the truck.

Most of the vehicle content was strictly concept, but the wheels are pre-production. We call it our dualsport, tire can be mounted traditional or true beadlock with the proper ring. Same setup as our Current Borah for the JK. This version will fit Colorado(and a few others). It hasn't been officially announced but the tool is done and they were on display in our SEMA booth and our shop in Wixom, so j think it's safe to talk about.
