Well after taking the motor in/out 4 times I'm happy with mount location. Burned it in. Had to modify drivers side for steering shaft support.

What is the criteria for placing an engine? As close to the firewall as possible?

On mine the PO hammered the fire wall a little, might have been for the exhaust manifolds but don't remember. It was down low on the passenger side I think.

And then 5-6 degrees of tilt for the engine/trans and T-case?

Whatever feels good.

I brought it up to get better ground clearance. It's not as far back as it could be. And I massaged the tub in two spots to clear the bell housing bolts.

On the TJ I put an aluminum block 5.3/4l60e/231 in we just massaged a pinch seam on the firewall and there was around 1/2" clearance on the backside of the head. You could see the rust sling marks on the bottom of the tub from the balancer on the back of the factory t case and we were right in line with the factory position.

LS' fit like butter in TJ's, we went with hooker block huggers.

I picked up some 2010+ Camaro manifolds. Looks like they will work pretty good.

I think my manifolds are OEM for my engine.

I have the truck manifolds, but the Camaro ones give me better options for routing.

Hoping to spend the day working on it. Got just about all I need minus a few pieces and parts.

Also ordered my replacement front axle..... Another 06 Ford 60. $109 + 100 core delivered to my shop .

Pretty much planning to build the same axle for the jeep that I built for the buggy with the exception of the buggy having a grizzly locker where jeep with have an air.

What is the total cost of the axle when built? That is cheap to start off.

So true.

Are you going to narrow this one too?

Artec truss and full hydro or hydro assist?

Chromos I'm sure at least

Re gear

Knuckle machining for high steer plus arms

Passenger side narrowed 4"-matches wms of 80s Ford 60.

Regear w/air locker

Convert to 8x6.5

Right now same truss setup and full hydraulic like the buggy.

Metro fab high steer

Ballistic diff cover... Only company I've found that makes a cover for the newer 60 that fits correctly.

Probably only chromo will be pass side inner. A Chevy inner shaft fits in perfectly with the narrowed axle. No need for a custom cut and respline.

Loose plans. I need to decide on what I'm doing for suspension before committing to the truss.

Basically same axle as buggy.

I'm kinda hoping not to sell my current axles before the Ls is done. I'd like to drive it with the 4.88s and see how it feels. Then I can decide on the new axles.

What size tires are you planning to run?
T-case ratio?

I'm at 3.8 & 4.88 with my 40's. Since I only have a 3 speed trans, it's about as low as I can go. It gives me good wheel speed for sand & snow. If I was only running rocks, I would go lower.

and if it helps, the truggy use to have a 3.8 & 4.88s on 37s with the 4.3 and it was a really good combo. by the time I got the 6.0 it had 5.38s (in the 1 tons)

that was with a 4l60e so the OD was nice.

Are you still running a 4l60e?
