LJ's look better pulling a trailer than sitting on one!

I'm sure it'll be on a trailer from time to time. But primary it will not be. Point of this is to drive place to place. If I intend to play hard enough for the need of trailer, I'll take the buggy.

Ordered a rear bumper / tire carrier from black box fabrication @xj4life. Should see that in the next couple weeks.

Also I plan to order front and rear 4.88s with front and rear zip lockers.
Thanks for the plug John

I think if anything, the Galaxie has the better chance on the chopping block then buggy. But never say never.

Here's the plan and reason for all of this....

Short term.
I purchased an 06 f350 last June. I've been daily driving it since. I've put almost 25k on it. It's now at 150kish. If the loan comes through w/o paying it off early it could be 300k+ in mileage. For what I owe, my payments, I don't want to rack on that many needless miles.

So I decided I wanted something else to drive in spring summer fall. I wanted something I know my wife and son would like. I wanted something 4wd and something "convertible" like. I was paying cash and didn't wanna finance. So the only thing within my price range was a jeep. Mpg wasn't a concern. I wasn't looking to save $ not driving my truck. So "the other gray lj" was bought.

I also wanted to be able to enjoy light wheeling, day trips without lugging my trailer around etc etc.

Long term.....
In approximately 6 years I have every intention of picking up and relocating West (grand Junction, co). Tentatively the buggy will most likely get sold prior to the move. When I get out there, I want to adventure wheel. Leave Friday come home Sunday exploring and camping in between. So nearing that 6 year mark yes the jeep will get bigger, will get tougher etc. Do in the next couple years, I'll be acquiring/building the toys, items, whatever I want in life. Then the next couple years bank everything, save everything. Then relocate with my toys and possessions with a nice bank roll and no debt to Colorado. When in Colorado find a less demanding, less strain full job that will allow me to take it easy (physically) and enjoy time with my wife.

Why 6 years, my son will graduate high school in 6 years and have his choice to stay in Michigan or move to Colorado. "his plans" are to stay in Michigan. But he's 12 and what does he know about planing.

This isn't a new plan, I've had this plan pretty much ever since I went and spent a week wheeling in moab a couple years ago.

Understandable, sounds like you have a good plan for the family.
When you move though, you will be missed.

Got the sye done today, picked up a xj front shift from local yard. Reinstalled tcase and installed rokmen skid to get the shift measurement. Of course 3 of the skid mounting bolts spun in the frame. So I got that fixed as well.

Also gonna install new muffler while I'm in here.

@Kyle M. Hooked me up with some parts to rebuild my upper front arms, as they both have a tweak to them.

Hoping the gears and lockers show up tomorrow. New winch should be here tomorrow. Maybe the arb compressor as well.
