So havent updated in a while. The H2D went out on me a short time after I installed it. So naturally I went bigger and upgraded to the ole 66mm S366. What a fuckin beast, ended up dropping 3 seconds off my 0-60mph from the Hx40. A whole 12mm larger than the stock turbo and it spools instantly. The exhaust housing is a .91AR. The 7.8 could probably even spin a 70mm unit but this is good for now. EGTs climb to around 1200 degrees on a WOT fully loaded pull up a big grade but dont go any higher.
Here is a video running WOT from a stock, gotta love the ole automatic transmission. Sumbitch really moves out. Also built some ramps so I can get our Gator in the back, works pretty damn good and everything clears good. ![]() |

Also picked up an Excursion for my wife, it is a 2000 7.3 (forged rods) has 220k on it. Pretty clean for a Michigan truck, has some rocker panel rust but nothing that cant be fixed. Installed a 4" turbo back, pulled the SCT transmission killer off it, and installed a set of 285 Cooper ST Maxx tires on it. (highly recommend them)
![]() Our 2008 F450 blew up again in a year and a half (split pistons) and we needed a replacement. Picked up a 2016 4x4 pickup trim F450, pickup trim was the only was to get the 440hp/860tq 4.30 gear model, C&C are all 320hp and we didnt want the de-rated model. Fucker hauls major ass. ![]() Last edited by back woods; August 24th, 2016 at 10:02 PM. |

Trying to keep this thread updated the best as possible. Got back from out west with the truck. When we got back I went through the brakes, new cans, slack adjusters, and governor. The truck is stopping very good now. Next was a new exhaust system, decided to run dual mufflers. One is a SS 4" and the other is 4" glasspack that I made this past spring. Wrapped the downpipe with heat wrap to keep some heat out of the floor.
![]() Then I towed a logging Forwarder. It was heavy, real heavy. The truck pulled it good but got hot. Ran it up to 230 pulling a grade on 633 in Grawn but never overheated and temps came down on their own. After than I ordered some fans. Two 14" units that flow 2300cfm each. Made some mounts and custom shroud out of rubber. Was also having issues with the air pump running up high PSI. This was adding unneeded heat to the system running all the time. Got that fixed with a new governor. ![]() ![]() Been pretty happy with how the S366 has been performing, but there is always room for improvement. Decided to get a billet compressor wheel for. It is a 6+6 wheel where as stock is 7+7. It has a slimmer hub with more blade area, taller blades, weighs less, and larger extended tip exducer. VERY happy with how it performs, it made a noticeable difference. Spools faster, pulls harder, cooler EGTs and it sounds really good. ![]() ![]() A couple of videos driving. First one is showing it spool and the 2nd is a pull up to 70mph. Think my lift pump is weak in these videos because it just went out on me yesterday. Hit 26psi on this run. |

That's funny, yeah I spent a couple days in Alabama with the truck. Stuck it in some nasty clay out there but was able to get out with the locker. Bought an air-cooled cooler for the motor oil to help knock down my overall temps when hitting it hard. Truck has been running great though. Need to replace one of the king pins and get an alignment, then on to paint. Very pleased with the truck and I don't baby it at all.

Update this thread a little bit.
Started heading north yesterday. Everything was going great until just north or Lexington KY. The fuel rack in the pump stuck wide open. In the rain on I75 it was spinning 4500rpm smoking out the freeway. Got it choked out and stalled. Had to get it towed to the nearest shop for the night. Thought it was the turbo at first but it wasn't. Rack is stuck so far open I can't get the rack plug off. Heading up to Michigan to get a lowboy (I owe some people big) and come back down to get the truck tomorrow. Out off all the shit that could break I never guessed it would be the ppump. Don't think I hurt the motor any, only ran away for about a minute or two. We made it home. Good Friday and it sure was good. Good friends are hard to come and they saved my ass big time. Was a 1200 mile round trip in a truck that just had a big chunk of money put into it for a rebuild. Was soooo lucky that my friend who was driving our Excursion back was also the driver of the lowboy. I have know him and his boss since high school. He got right on the phone when my truck ran away and got permission to use the tractor and trailer. A few permits later and we were ready to roll. Got back to Michigan from Georgia and left the next morning at 5am. Ran hard back to the 700 and got the tow company to back it on to the low boy. At the end of the day it is time to retire the F700 from out of state travel. I will get it going again soon but it won't be a camper truck. Love this truck, got it when I was 22 on a work trade. Have ran it for almost 6 years. Two trips from Michigan to Montana, 5 trips to Georgia-Florida, Alabama, and numerous other short trips. No break downs, never over heated, never pulled over by 5-0 and driven WOT all the time. Had a flat tire one time in Alabama that slowed us down for a night. Besides that nothing has ever slowed us down for more than an hour while on the road. This was quite the experience and the most epic break down to date. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
