I also picked up some snake eater performance 1500cc injectors and a warr performance DBC throttle body.

Probably the biggest part of the build I am least happy with. The Down pipe.

I retained the factory trans cross member. It just required min. modification to the trans mount area and you flip the cross member and it bolts right in and works.

I opted for a loud valve, dumps right under the pass. seat. Its boost operated with a on/off switch. Once boost hits about 2-3psi the opens and dumps the exhaust.

MSGR_PHOTO_FOR_UPLOAD_1534629974397.jpg_1534629976 011 by Cheapthrillb2, on Flickr

I ended up taking the orig. dash trim piece the previous owner had modified and used that. So I still have the unmodified piece I had bought in a box.

You might ask why two mufflers or why I did the exhaust that way. My intent was to make the car seem as stock as possible. I intended to run dual pipes out the back and retain the factory tail tips. MY hope was to make the car seem as stock as possible just sound like a marauder with loud mufflers.

After I got it running I ended up adding the tailpipes to it, and just didn't like the way it had changed the exhaust note. So I removed them and just put turn downs on the muffler. This winter I plan to redo the exhaust.

At initial measuring and appearance it had appeared the hood wouldn't clear the truck intake and I didn't want to change to a car intake. So i opted to put a small scoop on the hood to clear it.

But after cutting the hood, i think it may have cleared with just removing key parts of the underhood bracing. I have another black stock hood. I may change the hoods over down the road. I am not sure. GLassClass makes some nice hoods, I may opt for one of them as well.

Unfortunately I didn't reach my goal. I didn't have the car ready by the Metro cruise weekend. I gotten it to run but not enough to drive. I ended up being a week or so late. But I did end up getting to take my dad from the hospital for a few hours and did the cruise in my King Ranch with him.

I decided to continue on and atleast get a few weeks in this year driving it.

Engine bay ended up pretty sloppy, I have every intention of cleaning all that up this winter as well as hooking up ac etc. That air filter setup didnt last but a few road trips before I did that alot better lol.

I drove it for a weeks working on the tune. We've Kept it pretty safe as far as timing and air fuel. I've got it up to 16.5psi in boost. Its a hell of a handful that's for sure.

Taken it to the track a couple times before the season ended.

First trip out to the track I obviously had traction issues launching. So the 2nd trip to the track I picked up some drag radials..... The 4.10 gears gotta go though, probably drop back down to 3.55s (should of left well enough alone lol).

visited the track with my little brother (that p71 was bought off a member here a few yrs ago).

Fastest pass to date. I was the loser. I ran up against a Hell Cat. I ran him twice. The first time he red lighted BAD. I think he was nervous

video of that pass above
I did end up at the dyno, not one I usually use. But the only one I could find to get on. I wasnt thrilled with both the results and how he was doing it. He wouldn't lock the converter for a pull (my TC can handle it). I felt he was starting the pull to high in rpms. I see 16-16.5 psi in the car, he was only getting me up to 13 psi. And he was cutting the pull off early in rpms. The car sees 6800+ at the track, he was cutting me off at 6400 and I was still making power at 6400. I paid for 3 power pulls, no tuning. He was having issues with his machine. I think he ended up making 6 or 7 pulls before hiting that below. Which you can see in the graph it clearly was reading correctly.

20181031_163446 by Cheapthrillb2, on Flickr

It can do better. We've found my 4l80 has a poopy long 2-3 shift no matter what changes we make in the tune. I am not spinning yet at launch with the radials, and we think with the 3.55's I gain a little more as well. Anxious to see what the spring will bring, cant wait. I had so much fun hurting feelings at the track. Car did pretty much exactly what I hoped it would be. Fast, fun, and unsuspecting. I think i've made 15-20 passes between the two trips to the track. The after race "whats you got going on with that" conversations were priceless. But my favorite was beating alot of the mustang coyote and dodge srt8 guys. I think i put around 4000 miles on the car in the short time I had it running this fall and no real issues to speak of.

My winter plans are

3.55's
fix a spot in the trunk that rusted from a bad seal
Clean up the stereo
Clean up the engine bay
Probably do something with the exhaust
Ive got all the ford stuff working on car except the cruise and the temp gauge
Air Conditioning
Upgrading the frt brakes lol, stopping at the track isn't easy lol, frts get to hot to fast
And if funds allow a new paint job.

Pic from early on getting it going. The street tires are a joke on launches. Pretty m uch just instant red line on rpms and I have to back out. Its fun having a car you dont need to power brake to do a decent burnout. Pretty much stab the throttle and once boost hits the tires are gone.
20180909_151854 by Cheapthrillb2, on Flickr

I did have one issue early on. The hooker crossover pipe flex cracked and broke on me. I ended up cutting it out and put a solid piece in for now. They are warranting it out for me but i'm uncertain if I want to run another again and take the chance of it cracking.

some crappy video from the first time out at the track, this was on the street tires not the drag radials. Experimenting with launching. Unfortunately I could not launch under any boost lol.

Been sitting on the old dohc 4.6 for months. Finally got rid of it yesterday. Traded it for a gen3 5.3. Guess I have a spare motor .

Also booted the jeep out of the garage and into storage so I can work on the comfortably.

Sweet. I picked up my first Panther a month or two ago. I looked at piles of them. Of course, they are pretty much all the same. I settled on the one I got because of two things basically. The center console, and the price.

I picked up a 2002 Grand Marquis with the console shift marauder type center console. I'll turn 200,000 miles in a week or two. I gave $675 plus some fees. After changing a couple things and putting plates on it, I have around $1000 in it. It has some minor neglect (door pins, fuel door button etc) and the ball joints started squeaking the other day, but it came with new pads and rotors, new tires, and a few other odds and ends. It needs headlight housings, door pins, and an oil leak fixed before I get to play with it much.

I'm debating some boost, and/or an off-road look with a couple inches of lift and some bigger tires. May just go with some mustang bullit wheels or Torque Thrusts and some noise. We'll see.

If you know of a wrap around front bumper grill guard laying around anywhere, let me know.

Here's mine before I brought it home.

And the console shifter that essentially sold me on this car.

It also has a roost button. I see yours has a loud button in that spot.

The mgm floor shifts are pretty rare I believe. Nice find. You need to jmod the trans. Super cheap and well worth it.

Looks like you have a grand marquis LSE HPP. pretty rare car to be honest if it is a LSE.

Traction control wasn't on the marauders till 2004. So mine was equipped with it.

I'll see what the Jmod is all about.

It's the only MGM with a console I came across, and I looked at a lot. They all have the 50/50 split seat that I hate. I did all the research, and had a set of P71 seats & brackets all picked out to swap from a local yard. I found a couple CV's with a console, but they were different, and still a column shift. (and the consoles were all busted up)

I really wanted an 03+, but just couldn't find "the car" that jumped at me. This one did, and I'm kinda glad. I've found that the 98-02's are kinda their own thing, and have a lot of upgrades that carried onto the 03+. They got bigger brakes and 16" wheels, but retained a little bit of dish on the wheels, so cool wheels are easier to fit. If I choose to go with the "lifted" look, the gearbox type steering is easier to work with from my understanding.

This thing even has remote heater controls on the steering wheel!

I'll likely hit you up with a few questions about these rigs, as I know you've had several.

I've already learned about the heater hose nipple on the back of the intake leaking, making it misfire on #4. getting the cat hot, lighting the insulation of fire, and then blasting you in the face with hot antifreeze when you bump the heater hose looking for what is on fire.

I kicked a bucket so hard the US soccer team want's to hire me!
