We were going down a steep hill that had a washout to one side. I ended up sliding into into and something caught the rf tire and violently turned us into the bank. Probably one of the hardest hits I've taken in the Jeep. I was honestly surprised the tire and or knuckle was still attached to the Jeep it was so violent. The steering wheel violently ripped out of my hands. Thankfully I don't get my thumbs inside the wheel. But I did attempt to grab back ahold of the wheel as we were descending down to regain control and that's when the wheel bit me. Jacked up my thumb (and cut it) and and jacked up my wrist. My passenger got his elbow pretty bad against my center console. I didn't notice any damage at first. But I swung by iron man (Dale) and he noticed the rf was cambered in pretty bad. We looked at it and determined I had bent the rf upper ball joint stud. Glad it didn't fail.

You can see in the images the difference in clearance around the high steer arm.

Of course I had to get some poser shots. I was told the rock on top of the hill was called the nipple . Two hills with two rocks. I posed on both but I only took pics of one lol.

Spicer is the only ball joints I'll run in the Jeep. I'm gonna look into the upper ball joint eliminator kits going forward.

John from the park, he ran up to me at the second nipple and got some pics. I was pretty close to rolling over on that one. He was pretty excited. Hopefully I'll see those at some point.

Honestly, their should have been a warning sign in that spot. I shouldn't be responsible for anything that might happen in a gravel pit when I'm behind the wheel. Regardless of how many emails you sent out warning me of potential dangers and concerns .

Your damage definitely sucks. I guess better body damage right before a long trip out west then a drivetrain or other type of failure though.

I hope that issue has died down for good. It's the difference between someone who is used to guided runs vs exploratory runs.

Yes, I'm thankful for that.

My legs were also sore Sunday. I can't tell you how often I got out and walked to see what was up ahead of me before driving it. Especially when there weren't any tire tracks already made.

We were sitting around the fire at the base camp. And seen one guy get in a bad way, it was amazing how many people around and closer to him then us, and nobody went to help. It was like everybody watching was just waiting for something bad to happen. And had something went bad, it would have been real bad in a hurry given the location and distance it would have rolled/dropped. Right after we recovered the one guy, we no sooner parked and walked back to the fire and another jeep ended up in exactly the same spot.

Ended up competing in the rocks and valleys comp on the ski hill. I signed up for the unlimited class. Jeep was running good, but I was to hestitant with the throttle on my first run and took way to long. I was more competitive on my second run. It was fun. First time racing that event. It was actually the first real comp I have done with the jeep.
