Finished my bumper a while back.
20171021_161359 by Sterlingfire 01, on Flickr
Rotated my clutch assembly on my smitty to make it accessible.

20171021_161346 by Sterlingfire 01, on Flickr
Installed a new 2x4x3/16 tube crossmember in place of the stock round one, and the angle iron one I installed during the sas originally. This one is frenched into the frame with the winch plate that is 5/16 with 2 1/2x2 1/2x1/4 angle iron bolt flange welded to it. The plate also ties into the bumper.

The 12k winch in it's new home.

The bumper mid paint job. I used dupli color black bed liner rattle can paint. It's also what I used on my beadlocks. It seems to work well for my purposes.

Finished product. I think it looks great. The tow hooks may be a tad low, but they'll work for the time being.

Side shot to show off the wings I put on it to cover up the fender mounts.
Flame on, it might not be to the standards of some here, but it will work much better than the stocker, and gives about 4" or more of clearance over the stock bumper. I've got to build a rear bumper soon...

Those are just for looks. If they were for recovery purposes he would have painted then bright red.

I'm going to cut them off, after a little more research I've seen where some off-road parks will turn you away with those on. I surely don't need that headache after a long drive with a trailer lol. I'll have some 1" thick clevis points made for me and weld those on in their place.

Truck looks great.

Whatever you do for the clevis points, try to go way overkill. It is nice when they are sunk through the bumper and welded on both sides...

Another thought is, my buddy has ones somewhat like yours and he gets annoyed by the sound of them rattling while trail riding.

Thank you!
I really can't access the back of the bumper to weld through if i want to keep them in line with the frame horns. I will make sure they are welded proper though. Looks like on eBay i can get a pair for around 30. I think I'll go that direction.

If the bumper is made out 2x4 tubing then ruff stuff specialties makes some real nice clevis mounts that go around the tube and weld all the way around if you cant get behind.

That would be ideal, but it's made from 5x1 1/2x3/16 channel. I'll have to surface weld with a good chamfer on the edges so i know it cuts in deep.

A couple videos from the trails. I ended up making the hill climb. My dad was taking the video and thought he needed to pull cable, so he shut off the camera a little early. I went backward a little more and went hard right to climb a root and pulled right out. Needless to say it was almost too rutted up to make it for many of the other rigs there. It was nasty

You're getting closer! I recommend a skid plate if you can, long wheelbase like ours can get real rough on the under side!

Went to the Easter egg hunt at rocks & valleys on Saturday. Had a great time. Met @jfry10 and his family. We all hung out together all day. Our kids got along really well, and our wives did too. At the end of the day he let me ride with him to attempt the slab wall. We were denied, but not without giving it some damn good attempts. Were got very close on the last attempt, but got hooked on the edge of the slab and broke a brake line.
Didn't get very many pics, but here are some of them.

our last slab wall attempt. It was a good run, probably would've had it with one more try. Click the pic and it will take you to the video.
