dont have argon this weekend... so i have just been prepping the rear for stiffeners and the rear axle. but i got some parts in the mail today, so i decided to do a little mock up.

i think this is going to work pretty good. the other end of the limit strap is bolted to the lower control arm bolt. right now im at about 10" of travel, split 50/50. ive been looking at getting 7100s to be tunable... i could probably squeeze some more droop with a 14" short body and relocating the axle side shock mount. a 12" short body gets me nothing, as these 11" 5125s have the same extended length. that extra inch of travel would be past full bump. but as it sits the coil just barely unseats at full droop.

rear stiffeners are all prepped. even prepped the shackle relocation brackets to be permanently welded on as well. alas... no argon. maybe tomorrow, probably not.

also pulled the axle. chopped off the ram skid.

started mocking up the ram in a new spot. i think this is where it is going to have to live. i didnt chop off the old ram mount because im going to have to weld to it.

extended:

shouldnt have a problem interfering with the coil:

collapsed:

clears the diff:

lines end up in a good spot:

axle side mount.... i can get the bolt out with the wheels strait:

now i just need that damn argon...

little update. things have been hectic... we are getting ready to release our project at work for prototyping, and ive had an offer that i put in on a house accepted. but the jeep needs to roll in 45 days (or less).

welded this gizmo out of the scrap from my trackbar... 1.5x.25 DOM.

i didnt want to mess around with making a plate skid... just tacked for now.

been having a fit trying to run the lines for the ram. mounting the ram under the tie rod isnt ideal, ultimately you wan the ports for the ram to be vertical. right now ive got them at about 45 degrees from vertical.i think i need an extra 90 degree fiting to make it work, but im going to have to live with this at the steering gear.

put this in, dodge 2500/3500 master cylinder

got the wheel studs out without messing up the axles

lastly, i needed a little lift... so i splurged on boostwerks comp shackles

(for those unfamiliar with their product: http://www.boostwerksengineering.com...les-_p_24.html)

lastly, ran into this issue

not a whole lot going in this weekend. spent a lot of time cleaning up loose ends, dialing things in, routing lines, cables, and linkages, etc... also, got rid of the factory Tcase linkage. it was never an issue, but hell, while im in there...

whats that cable? oh just this... pretty sure i was a factory option. idk...

main reason i didnt get anything done... was watching the first of the SAE Baja races this for this year. CMU had a really good showing.

for the first time in 8 years my speedo will be correct.

new springs

shackles at almost 45 degrees. the springs should settle, and the jeep isnt loaded.

it sits level now! i wouldnt have been able to stand it if i spent all this time and money on it, only to throw my old leafs in and have it not sit level. you can also spy the power steering cooler i added.

full bump and full droop

tight, but everything fits. the coil is JUST starting to unseat, and ive got a .75" spacer i am going to put in. brake lines are captured now too.

ordered rear shocks. they will be here tomorrow.

best part is... the lists are getting much shorter. i am almost ready to push it into the driveway for paint/rebuild and reassembly.

been pretty busy and havent updated in a while... long story short...

disregard the rake. it levels out when i throw the bumper, spare tire, and a few tools in the back.

also... reason i have been busy. closed on a new house.

shakedown run happened last Saturday at the mounds. started out slow and worked my way up:

by the end of the day I had worked up the courage (with a little bit of encouragement) to tackle the big rock pile:

jeep went everywhere I pointed it with zero complaints. a couple bugs, but no major failures or issues. beyond happy for the time being.

thanks.

the gate keeper to big ugly has been knocked down and the giant undercut water hole/ledge has been drain. still a fun trail, and easy to dive right into hump trail... which is still just as muddy and stinky as ever.

slab is doable... ron was saying the magic number is 22mph. i really want tube. but im going to enjoy it some more first.

my old slugs were 1980 something factory slugs with a press (dead blow) on cover that did not have a seal. they let a little water in. i addressed that.
