So what are you doing for siding? It looks like its got old timey slats with shale tile over it. Are you going to tear that off and do some sort of vinyl, or are you going to try to rehab the shale?

I know that was a point of debate for at least 30 minutes but it is centered on the wall when I put the trim around the window

given how invasive this remodel project has been, patching is not an option, I am planning 1/2 inch foam board around the entire exterior and some type of siding just not sure at this time what it will look like

I ran across this post a few weeks ago and this post is the whole reason I signed in, I want to watch this house come to life. Its a dream to have something like this one day but I would have to hire the work out.

Thanks It has been a interesting project.

I realize everyone needs to make money but the contractors are pricing them selves out of work. I have tried to hire some of this work out but the prices quoted to me were outrageous. It has taken twice as long as I wanted but the simple fact is I can't afford to pay someone 3 or 4 times my take home after taxes to work on my house. The lowest quote I got for the heating and cooling was $12 k when I am all done I will only have around $4 k in all the supplies. I had 3 electricians look the job over only 1 quoted it at $17 K to date I have $2100 in doing the job myself. You would be amazed what you can tackle when you spend some time watching some youtube and doing a few Google searches.

My wife has told me this is how she justifies my tool purchases. I just dropped almost $500 on a HF toolbox, I waffled at buying it because it but the wife just said buy it. Washing machine shit the bed last week. I tore it down and fixed the problem for $0 instead of dropping that almost $500 on a new unit that wouldn't wash as good as the one I just fixed. She considers it a win.

She just got a $85 bill for an oil change and probably some other shit at the dealer. Guess who gets to change her oil when its -5 out. No good deed goes unpunished I guess.
