I ran XP 64 when it came out. It was not ready for public. Driver issues up the ass and non of the hardware manufactures cared. I always felt it ran faster with good software that was actaully written for it. I've had a few people say that the way the binaries are it is more capable and quicker than 32 bit OS's. MY seat of the pants said yes.

Like I said in your PM, I feel we don't have a choice. Sooner or later Vista will be in XP's shoes. Besides an edition like ME when has MS not released a version that everyone took on eventually. dos, 3.1, 95,98,NT (2k &XP)

Again like I said in the PM and just for other peoples understanding, ours was a warranty issue. We want all our PC's within next day warranty. Most are P4 HP Workstations, so they are slowy falling out. Also the license game of trying to get XP now that MS quit selling it.

I feel teh new office sucks as well. I like Outlook as they didn't ruin that, but I can't find shit on that damn ribbon.

Not to quibble, but Oakland County, for the most part skipped 'ME, '98, and 2k.

Went from 3.1 in a mostly non-networked supplemented by IBM AS400 environment to a partial split with '95 and NT in a novell environment and then straight to XP and ditched novell.

Having worked there, I can't say that they always follow "Best Practices" but with some 4-5k employees - each typically having a PC - they're not your average run of the mill small business that's easily able to ignore patches.

Gotta say, your post is the first I heard of anyone actually adopting 98 in a commercial, or semi-commercial environment. But then again, I'm not as immersed in IT as I once was, and wasn't as heavily immersed at that point in time either.
