Yes and no chance on social media, everyday aforementioned twats ask the same stupid ass questions about stupid trivial mods, like painting interior trim, how to make their lightbar quiet on hway etc...

Its like ricers and brotruck **** converged and took over the jeep world

Yes, it seemed like you could refresh every minute and there would be 10-20 new posts.

I still hang out. Try to update my thread when relevant. I see the same thing happening on pirate too. Less active threads and less actual tech. I feel like the photobucket (owned by Facebook) was a sham to draw more people to it. I think it worked, but i still don't and won't have a Facebook page... I'll stay with forums until i have no need for tech or have any useful tech to post. (My posts are likely not full of as much information as I'd like though)
Agreed. I'm 34 and this is as close to social media as i get.

Heck yeah, I used to search this site way before i even knew how to sign in with an account. I remember those days when I started to post things for sale and by the end of the day I would be tiffed my for sale post was like three pages back. Even got a smack on the hand for updating too soon. Now I have actually started to check out my laptop to see if it was acting up due to no new post on the site.
I don't know if it just that the younger jeep crowd are on the FB type sites, or the new jeep crowd likes turn key upgrades from the dealer and don't build their own anymore. Most of the off road rigs I see now are shopping mall rigs.
Then again, I haven't been on a two track in years. I got old all of a sudden, woke up the other day moaning in pain, if its not my back its my shoulder or my neck. My wife keeps saying, " you are 60 now". Like i need to hear that, I get reminded every morning.

The facebook groups are useless for real tech, or searching for anything. The way facebook filters and culls what's in a search means you will never be able to find what you are after.

and yes, I want to punch the idiots who ask the same question that was asked 12 hours before in the face, as simply looking at previous posts would answer their question. But that would actual require some sort of effort on their part, and we can't be having any of that now.

So I don't have a facebook thingy, so I don't know. Can you, or are you allowed to respond to questions from other people with links to forums? I realize this is a "bunch of work" to do for these simpletons for free, but could this maybe help bring people back to the forums?

Say someone asks on FB what you've done to fix your lightbar windnoise. Can you respond with a link to
wwwwww.greatlakes4x4.com/showthread-HowIfixedmylightbarwindnoise/Page2?

Or if someone asks you questions about a build pic you posted, give them a link to the build thread here (that is regularly updated) so they can see the info and discussion about the build?

A link to the "jeep tech" subforum when they ask about 31" tires on their xj?

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
