Unhappy Another tragic accident - Lk St. Clair

What the hell is going on this year????????????

From the Freep:
An evening of boating with friends on Lake St. Clair turned tragic when an 18-year-old Ira Township man was killed in a Clay Township canal Tuesday night.

Chad Michael Rhoades was thrown from a 15-foot 2008 Sea Doo jet boat just after 8 p.m. when it hit a sea wall in a canal off Anchor Bay, the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office said.

Rhoades had been out in Munchies Bay in the boat with the driver, a 17-year-old Clay Township friend, and four other male teenagers, according to investigators.

The driver, who lives on Phillips Drive, had picked up his friends in the bay about 45 minutes before the crash, St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Edward Golden said. Part of Bouvier Bay behind Munchies Restaurant on Dyke Road, the bay’s 3- to 4-foot water depths and a sandy bottom often draws a crowd, he said.

“It’s a popular weekend swimming area,” Golden said. “People come out of Swan Creek and pull across there and anchor. He came out of his canal, and it’s just like a gradual right-hand turn right into Munchies Bay.”

The group was apparently coming back to the driver’s dock when the boat crashed into the sea wall, Golden said. Rescue personnel took all the young men to St. John River District Hospital in East China Township, where Rhoades was pronounced dead. The other teenagers were treated and released, Golden said.

Witnesses told investigators that a mechanical issue could have caused the crash, he added.

“That’s what we’re looking at right now,” Golden said. “We’ll be going over to look at it this morning.”

Michigan Marine Salvage pulled the boat from the water and took it to a boatyard in Harrison Township. It may be moved to another yard in Port Huron closer to the sheriff’s office today, Golden said.

Golden said the crash was the first fatal accident the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Marine Division has handled during this year’s boating season.

It is Karma, and yes I do believe in karma. If you understood the Buddhist views you would know they believe Life is Impermanent. They also believe that life as we know it is full of suffering and death can be samsara for some and nirvana for others.

Hi

Please keep the BS out of the boat forum. This forum is meant to discuss the awesomeness of boating, how it is superior to wheeling and all things boat related. Unfortunately accidents are part of the sport. Karma is not.

Please keep the karma discussion to the politics section and the judging others to the pub.

Sincerely,
The mod of the best forum on gl4x4
