My 1989 Ford 3/4 ton ext cab 4x4 diesel fully optioned out for its day stickered at $15,300. Similar super duty today stickers $43000 with no options. Gee sounds reasonable to me.

my dads 2008 3/4 ton stickered out to 53.5k, thats fawking corvette prices. but the difference between the 89 fully optioned and the 2008 fully optioned are drastic. I am not saying the loaded trucks are not worth it, i just think there should be a cheaper solution for the working man that wants a "truck".

so you are saying your full optioned out 89 superduty is equivalent to a fully optioned 08 superduty?

i am in no means saying the price is ridiculous.. but all cars have gone up .. and it is because of stricter crash testing, safety, emissions, creature comforts, bs in general..

i was pretty close. and besides, for some people diesel isnt an option. you get more mpg's and if you run offroad, your almost paying gasoline prices. plus, if your really working your truck you will really wish you had a diesel.

mpg difference is not that much better with todays diesels vs gas.. even towing..

and im done w/ this thread before all the bloated diesel mpg figures get thrown in here.. because everyone claims their precious diesels get better mpg then actual.. so later..

Remember when you could buy a 1997 Wrangler Sport new for $12,500. Now my stripped down 2007 Wrangler X was $24,000........ That's one expensive radio system.

And my grill and half the body parts are made of plastic instead of metal so it must be safer......

the top of the line radio in a chevy truck is a 3000+ dollar option.

I was joking, and my stereo is not even the top of the line one available. Still it must be worth $11,500 if anyone wants to make me an offer.
