Default 1993 Grand Cherokee - $1000 - Come get it.

1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited - 5.2l V8

Full time 4WD, Limited with all the bells and whistles. A/C, Power windows, power locks, tilt, cruise, power steering, AM/FM/CD, dual power leather front seats, rear 40/60 split folding bench, roof rack, and factory (I think) tint.

In the last year, I have put approximately $1900 into this. Here is the list:

- Replaced upper/lower ball joints
- New front pads and rotors
- New rear brake shoes, hardware, and wheel cylinders
- New track bar
- Four new tires
- New throttle body
- New MAP sensor
- New ECT (engine coolant temp) sensor
- New ECT switch
- New CD player
- Tranny flush
- Alignment
- Fuel Pump
- Battery
- Other odds and ends

This Jeep has the bulletproof Chrysler 318. She's got a decent amount of miles (208K), but you wouldn't know it. No knocks, pings, or other noises, and only rarely a puff of smoke on start-up. The tranny shifts smooth, with no slippage. The 4X4 works great. I've never done any off-roading with it, but this beast will go through about anything. Driving in Michigan winters is a blast.

The bad? She's got a few spots of rust, which you can see from the pictures. A spot on the rear hatch, some on the bottoms of both rocker panels, and some on the left rear fender. There are a few small dents and dings, and the clearcoat is coming up in a few spots. No more so than any other 14 year old vehicle that has been driven in Michigan. The door locks can be a bit finicky from time to time, and the glorified idiot light (onboard computer in the dash) works when it wants to. The one in the overhead console, with gas mileage, compass, etc. works fine. The rear wiper doesn't work, and neither does the A/C. I haven't looked into either of them to be honest, because I don't really use either. My guess is the rear wiper needs a motor. The A/C pump, etc. are all there, so it could be as simple as a re-charge, or as involved as a new pump. I simply don't know.

I think that's about it. She's a nice old Jeep that runs and drives good, and looks about average. I get roughly 14-15 MPG, although I only drive about 8 miles per day. HWY driving would get you a little more, I think, and dedicated city driving the same or a little worse than I get. The only reason I'm selling her is I've got a semi-woody for a Cherokee that I've had my eye on, and wouldn't mind making the switch.

If you have any questions, or I missed something, feel free to let me know. I can also take more pictures if there is something specific that you would like to see. I can be reached via email or PM. Thanks for looking.

UPDATE:

Had this all set to sell on here, and I think the transmission went right after. I haven't moved it since. It moves, but reverse makes a pretty loud winding noise, and I can't get it much over 30 going down the road. I'm no mechanic so there's always the chance it's something else, but I'm working 60 hours a week and don't have the time to screw with it. $1000 and its yours.

Photos attached - they're from the fall, when I first thought about selling it, but nothing has changed since then aside from the transmission issues. Let me know...

Nick

I guess I didn't mention it, but I'll entertain offers/trades. Older Ford pickups in running shape, etc. No quads or trail rigs, and gas mileage isn't really a concern. Would rather have cash though.

Probably not, but I would be willing to listen just in case its s real nice car. Mostly interested in cash, but would consider a decent looking, good running, old Ford pickup.

Am I going about this the wrong way? I.e., would I be better off putting a new tranny in first? Hell, if somebody wants it for $1000 I'll take it to get the damn thing off of my driveway.

PM sent. It's yours. I would say I'm probably 45 minutes away, if that.

Back up she goes, unless I hear otherwise from jthorrocks. First $1000 takes her.

Last shot - $700 or I'll just keep it.

Sure do. Got your email, I've just been slammed. Want to just set up a time, or do you want me to call you Friday evening?

I guess it depends. I called a couple of junkyards when it went out on me and found a few in the 60-90K range with the most expensive being $575. I'm not handy enough to put one in though, and was looking at another $400 or so to have it done. Just not worth it to me.
