The 241HD has now been installed. During that job it was discovered that the Skyjacker clocking ring was already in there. :tonka: Unfortunately, nothing else can be done with it at this time and I'm going with the new front driveshaft. The 241HD has a different shift pattern, but it works with my 98's shift lever and the interior didn't have to be disturbed. All the related parts were secured from the donor vehicle, so we just popped the shift pattern cap off the knob and replaced it with the other one.

Is it at Koz's again? I talked to him a couple weeks ago about your Ram.

Yes, it was. The 241 was making bad noises and the cost to repair it would have been close to that of the upgrade. I'll get the bearing replaced later and then have a spare case.

Brought it home on Saturday. The 241DHD is working nicely, but it has changed the range of movement of the shifter due to the linkage rod being a different length. The shifter is rotated too far forward in the cab now, so I'll have to have a longer one fab'd to being it back upright. The shifter trim can't be installed with the lever at its current angle. The new rear output is quite a bit larger than the 241DLD.

Have lots of other issues to work on now that the truck can be driven again. When the lift was installed, two of the exhaust hangers that existed on the drivetrain crossmember were eliminated. As a result, there is increased weight at the manifold that has started a leak, most likely stretching the studs. The pipes also flex way too much now and make lots of noise above 45mph. I still have the rubber isolators, so a couple new hangers welded to the new crossmember should solve the problem. I'd really like to go to headers along with the new exhaust, but the manifold bolts look pretty scary.

I'm sure a few would break off. I'm just going to get some new studs in the manifolds to stop the leaks for now and weld braces between the pipes to keep them from rattling while I address other mechanical issues. I need to put in some better plugs for the long-term, install the Viper ignition wires, replace a few sensors to get the speedo/odometer/ABS working again, and play musical tires/rims this week to swap the MT/R's onto the Ram rims for street driving and the Nittos onto the H2's I picked up.

I've been waiting on someone who has some 40" MT/R's since I drive it on the street frequently, but I am considering springing for some aggressive rubber depending on how the holidays go.

You leave me wondering how large of tire i could put under the 3500 dually . Damn fenders openings are big in these trucks .

Your truck looks good , v 10 is a strong motor but does it sound like crap ? Mine did with duals on it .

We addressed this here previously. I believe what we ended up with was that you sounded like crap.

The bigger the muffler chamber, the better it sounds. I've gotten accustomed to it, but the small 2-in-2-out that's on it now has a higher pitch than what I would really prefer. It'll improve when the headers go on and the pipes are changed.

As for the tires, larger than 40 would probably fit for driving, but I prefer to allow for full flex.

when you put headers on there if the manifold bolts snap or break off in the block most of the time its in the middle so you can still get a good pair of vise grips in there to twist them out... eather that or jsut cut all the heads off with a torch and then just pull the manifold off and twist the studs out with vise grips....

great looking truck pp.... badass rig no dought about it

Installed the new unit bearing assemblies this weekend and the 40's are now on. Looks much more in proportion. I'll have a new pic up soon.
