Default CJ got towed home yesterday.

I was driving around Howell a lot yesterday in my CJ...got a few waves from fellow jeepers and was on my way home. Suddanly, it stars sputtering, i give it gas, it stalls. I crank it back on and keep going on light gas pedal, any more chokes it. It finally died on me where I couldn't start anymore.

I thought I ran out of gas, since my gas gauge is not working and it's been a while since my last fill. I called my wife to bring me some gas, but she wasn't picking up (later found out that I left her cell phone in the garage).

I called AAA to bring me some gas. They did, got 2 gallons for free :) but it still wouldn't start. I checked and found out gas is not getting to the carb. Sounds like a fuel pump, but I just replaced it a few months ago. So the wrecker had to tow me home...

bad quality/ defective fuel pump/ or blockage in the filter could possible be some type of debris in the carbs fuel bowls

Have you ever noticed that wives are never WHERE you need them to be WHEN you need them to be there? Damn women!

P.S. It's her cell phone. She should keep better track of it.

My dad just had this happen to him, he somehow had a bunch of fiber in the filter just before the fuel bowl, and it clogged it. Had to clean it with a knife. Took 5 minutes. We were amazed that something got past the inline filter.

I had that problem, found it to be a cracked fuel line from the tank to the pump, had to follow the line the entire length of a Ramcharger.

I'd swap out fuel filters. This is why its nice to have the ones that are clear. You can see if their is any fuel in their.

I'm guessing clogged jets on the carb, especially if you have a 258. My first jeep used to do that all the time.

I got it fixed. Fuel was delivered right up to the carb and stopped there. There was some debris where the fuel line goes into the carb. Cleaned that out and put some compressed air in there :). Shot some carb cleaner and it started right up.

I need to get a clear filter and some rubber fuel line.

Thanks for your suggestions.
