Default Anybody visit the copper peak snomobile climb's in ironwood?

I was there this weekend, and all I can say is holy fricken crap is that thing tall. I had no problem climbing the wooden stairs, but when you get to the steel grate that you can see through, I had to stop.

For one, I don't know why the hell any skier would go down that thing, and two, I can't believe they lived after they did it.

I didn't know they did racing up the landing hill until I was in the little gift shop and they were playing video. pictures/videos don't do this thing justice. I don't think you could walk up it very easily.

Didn't stop there on our vacation last month. Now I have to go back. Need to go back and do a mine tour anyhow. We had 6 hours to walk around in the mall of america, but no time to see the mines.

At copper peak, they advertise a free mine adventure and give you hard hats and flashlights and ask for a donation. After the long walk to the mine, I walked inside to find out it was only 50' deep.

It just ended there. Its in the side of the mountain under the jump.

anyways, don't do the free copper peak mine adventure.

Wow. Looks like there is barely enough room to check your speed. I would definately wear my helmet for that run.

I am stunned they let you up it. They haven't had a safety permit for tourists since 04 and used to only be open on the weekends. My mom lives up there, so I've been there frequently its a cool set of trails and falls in the area.

Its open to the public, it was 12 bucks, you ride the chairlift up the hill, then the elevator to the top, and you're on your own.

QUADRUPLE DAFFY!!

There was a pretty cool article about the jump in Ishpeming in Powder magazine a few months ago. There is one hell of a ski culture built up around that jump. They start 'em when they're young and fearless!

I might consider trying a smaller one if I ever got the chance. That would be really weird to wear the huge skis without your ankle locked down.

I went to the top 2 years ago. My brother stayed in the elevator at the 18th floor. I climbed the rest of the way to the top (26th story). Amazing view. Ski jumpers have balls of titanium.

You lying sack of . I told you who let you up there. Every time I've gone the place was closed. You can't just go there and climb it, but have on occasion let people buy tickets to climb. My point was they had not passed their safety cert for a long time to allow that to happen.
