1) swap in disc knuckles from a later cj dana 30
2) spring over (much much much better if you go to YJ springs, but this is some work)
3) lockers

slap on some 35s and go.

i will get some pics as soon as i can. The body and frame are in really nice shape. The motor runs, but has a miss to it. Never driven a jeep before first time i brought the front end off the ground. It came with a new set of 31x7x16 military tires. Really need to get some money around for new tires. All the wiring and dash was torn apart and chewed up but it came with a new painless harness.

No not yet, I have been busy all week working on the jeep. Got the wiring 95% done and blasted the whole thing in a gloss white. Not a big fan of body work so i just sanded and blasted it with paint. Its going to get used and abused so i figured why be pretty. Need a cheap set of 33 or 35's to get me through the summer. Also any body know if its cheaper to get my jeep licensed as a antique? I will go out and take some pics and have my wife post them for me. Any help or info pm me i would appreciate it.

you technically cannot use a vehicle licensed as an antique for daily transportation. it's on the s.o.s. website but here is the pdf application

http://www.michigan.gov/documents/hplate_16252_7.pdf

What's the rush to get new tires? I wheeled for YEARS on 31s and had some of the best wheelin memories... What kind of wheelin do you want to do?

Is this just your first jeep... or is it your first short wheelbase wheeler? or first wheeler in general?

Personally I'd say just fix your wiring, make sure it runs solid (without overheating, steering good, etc.) and just wheel it The jeep will let you know what needs to be upgraded as you go. If you start throwing money at it before you have unearthed any potential previous issues, you'll constantly be fighting downtime.

In a few years when finances settle, I fully intend on getting an additional wheeler that will be streetable and never see greater than 33s. 33s make the vast majority of trails actually fun. Plus, I miss driving around in a topless noisy POS
