First negitive feed back I have seen towards the new orv law.

I posted this on a Homesteding site that I know services Michigan. this guy seems to have a real problem with anything new.

Will the operators of these vehicles be required to be licenced, carry insurance, register their vehicle, wear a helmet, pass a skills test, have an effective muffler, emmision control and approved lights with turn signals like the vehicles our roadways are designed for?
And this signed by a governer who gave up her car and driver for public transportation for a day to be green.
OTOH you may also contact your county commision and township board to urge them not to adopt legislation.
its amazing how much treehuggers want to condem us for wanting our freedoms. I asked that they read the bill. its the best I can do since their mind is so closed.

Are you suprised? You post an ATV law on a non ATV site & expect them to be excited about it.

Yetti, you could post Michigan's ATV operating code that would answer all that guy's questions.

what a jerk. i bet he is one of those people who moved to the country to "get away from it all" and now wants the people who were there before to change so that he can live the simple life.

I don't have to, its all inclusive in the bill. as for what people do for themselves it amazes me. when it come time to do for the counties and improve incoming dollars they expect a money tree but nobody wants to plant it and water it.

maybe also point out that none of my 4 vehicles I own have to have mufflers, emmisions testing, etc.

In fact, I bet an ATV would get a hell of a lot better mpg than the trucks I run around, so I would be reducing our dependancy on foreign oil! lol

I've always been opposed to this law, and I have owned and probably will own another ATV, as well as ORV's.

I think snowmobiles should stay off the shoulder of the road as well.

as it stands right now all the counties that had ORV open laws look like they are re uping to go back open. I have heard Lake county is doing the review process now.

from what I have read also the few counties that had orv laws are also doing a carry over on the old law. Montmorency and Ogemaw are both running orvs on the road shoulders from what I have read. they figured it would keep the $$$$$ up where they belong.

Having lived up north and dealt with sleds on the shoulder, and the idiots down here everytime it snows enough to ride I can only imagine the nuiscanse the orv's might/may become.

Although I dont like the law, it really won't affect me, but if I lived in an area where it would, I would be more outspoken against orv's on the shoulder.

Sure why not, they seem to pose a danger to people commuting to and from work, picking up their children etc. Nice argument.

They are really no different then a motorcycle... hell they are larger.

While I don't know how I feel about them just riding the shoulder, I would rather see Michigan allow you to plate and make street legal an ORV - Arizona does this.(like enduro motorcycles). Riding the shoulder slowly is just asking to get hit, though honestly I would still do it so I don't have to contend with a tow rig and trailer from our property to the trail head.

What? People bust out sleds in our area all the time when it snows.

When I lived in the UP you would face snowmobiles bouncing along on the shoulder with ridiculously bright lights, darting out and around bumps, trees, mailboxes, etc. Now we are going to allow orv's to do the same? Its a hazard plain and simple.

Yes, and its illegal. If they tried to make it legal I would voice my opinion loud and clear.

you guys should read some of the sled regs. that stuff goes back 50 years in some cases. I don't see where they will change for a single complait since they are so well organized. even counties down here have sled rules. Lenewee has a route markers on M50.

I'll bet most of you don't realize you have to have a trail sticker on your sled to do laps on a lake anywhere in Michigan? the only way to get around it is to have a bucket on the back with your ice fishing gear in it.

I have no idea how you get that out of my post. I dislike it whether it is legal or illegal, but the legislature is not up for vote, and I don't have the time or energy or desire to organize a movement to have it enforced.
