Default Silver Lake Question

Hey all
When to silver lake for the weekend a while back and want to go back. However i just want to do a day trip. How bad is it to get a parking pass if i just show up sat. morning? I always trailer my jeep so it is easier to get home if something happens. It is street legal and i was wondering if there is anywhere else to park if i have a problem getting in? Any info would be great.
Thanks

I've done daytrips there before and have had no trouble getting in, I get my dune ready voucher and drive right in. you may be able to park in the parking lot where the voucher booth is?

Nope, the state does not offer off site alternative parking for dune ready trailers. I've asked Pete about this and the simple answer is that it's not in the plans. Yeah, the park N ride is a good idea. I've also seen people actually rent a camp site just to park their tow rig.

i would just go to the voucher center,if it's the weekend, and see how long you would have to wait,if at all.if it is a long list,i would go to the camp grounds and ask how much to park your tow rig for the day.we've done it at silver city a few times and they never charged very much.

the highway is less then 10 miles, his jeep is streetable, why pay at the campground?

this year things have been pretty dead, on a Sunday I bet you won't wait too long for a parking spot, on saturday well, mid afternoon you may get in, maybe earlier, but yes, teh park and ride is free, or the camp grounds would probably take your money to let you park...

i was thinking this way so he wouldn't have to air the tires back up just to get to one of the camp grounds, but to drive 10 miles you should.for $5 or so i guess it's his call.
