Default Skyjacker hydro shocks

Put them on my YJ when I did the soa lift, had the Jeep at the dunes yesterday and the bushings didn't last an hour out there. Replaced the lower rears (thanks to D.A.R and Apple Automotive) and they seemd to be holding up now. So today I was out there for about an hour and now the front shock bushing are wasted, top and bottom. WTF!!! I never had this problem with the shocks I got from Rough Country on my old Jeep.

Anyone else have this problem with them? And how did you solve it?

do you have a steel bushing installed inside the poly bushing or is the poly bushing just riding on the bolt?

Yes the steel bushing is inside of the poly bushing. I thought the same thing but when I took them off this morning I checked and they were in there.

Mine were (are) also plain junk shocks. They were reduced to a gurgling mess within 10 minutes at the dunes, and they never damped anything on the rebound. They would jar your teeth our on compression, but let the thing bounce to the moon on rebound . . . won't be buying any more Skyjacker junk again. They were plain dangerous . . . well, with me at the wheel anyway.

call sky jacker and tell them your problem. they got a bad batch of bushings from their supplier and will send you new ones free of charge. I installed a few sets weeks ago and the people came back with destroyed bushings. you could crumble them in your hand they were so bad.

Thanks for the info. I just wish I would have caught this before I wasted 450$ going to Silver Lake.

Wow! I have sold several sets of these shocks. Not one problem. Most people really like them. How old are they?

I purchased them brand new about a month ago. I liked them until the bushings blew out

This has been getting hashed over on Jeepforum. Apparently the bad ones are an orangish red? Mine have been holding up(knock on wood), a deep red color to them. Purchased about 3 month ago, replacing the R/C gas "bricks"
