Default Dirt road speed limits

Can you get a ticket for speeding on a dirt road, or will a cop just call a reasonable speed like 90 "reckless driving"?

unmarked highways = 55mph, I believe. But then there's always the michigan implied speed law, so if its washboards or loose gravel or whatever, 55 can still be a ticket...

I don't understand why ANY retard would want to do 60 on a dirt road, even if it is hardpack. Too damn easy to lose it, no matter how great a driver you think you are.

I am sure someone might be able to correct me, but I believe the 55 rule is only for a certain type of road. I believe the assumed speed goes down in certain levels as the quality of the road decreases.

It also matters if it is a residental area.

And by the way, Mishow, how many times do you need everyone here to tell you that you're a reckless driver? It just seems like you enjoy arguing about how you don't feel that speed limits apply to you.

If you think you're going fast enough to get a ticket, then you are.

No, you cannot get a speeding ticket on a dirt road. Police radar/laser equipment needs the pavement to bounce off of, and does not work on dirt roads. Don't listen to these other jackasses, I know how it really works, I'm a rent-a-cop.

dumbass

55 is the implied speed for unmarked paved roads, 35 is dirt

The absolutely cannot. The only law enforcement agency with jurisdiction over dirt roads is the US Border Patrol- and they don't have the authority to issue speeding tickets.

Go as fast as you want. Speed laws don't apply to you. Pick a dirt road with no houses though and lots of big ass trees. The bondo in one of your fine "pre-owned" cars should hold up pretty good when you smash into one. You'll be just fine.

Dirt road speed limits are 55 unless otherwise posted. Four years ago I was given a speeding ticket on a dirt road and the state boy was nice enough to write me down for just speeding and not reckless driving like he said he could have.

well first of all is the dirt road private road or puplic?? second of all you are fool to try to drive that fast anywhere in the state. If you get caught you should have the book thrown at you for everything they can because you are a crazy person to get on a puplic formum and say anything about doing 90 on a drirt road.

I hate pricks that drive like jackasses down my road dirt. I'd rather have the kids down the road drive there bagged s10's with there blaring subs go 15mph than idiots do 60.

I took driver's ed like 4 years ago and the instructor said you follow the "speeds safe for conditions" law or it's 55mph max. I don't see the need to go over 45mph on a dirt road
