Default Another rigless gl4x4er. Traded in the Jeep for...

Gets much better gas mileage, rides better, and more fun to drive (Rarely could even make it to the Mounds to even wheel the jeep....so this is a much more fun 'daily driver')

'05 with 36k on the ticker. I get mid to high 20s mpg with a mix of city and highway, and has a 6 speed manual trans.

It's even got a cute little spoiler that raises near 62 mph, and lowers at 35 (It's rear wheel drive)

From what I've read about these little things, they're primarily manufactured by Mercedes Benz, and are built in Germany....and even have the MB 3.2L V-6 that's in their SLK Roadster.

Anybody ever driven one?

The interior is immaculate. Oh yeah, and it's nice to have A/C again..

Why do you say you are rigless? I would totally wheel that.

I drove an SRT-6 Convertible. It was a riot except for the automatic trans. Those are fun little cars that handle great.

Very nice!

I don't think Kelly turned this site into car freaks, gas prices did. I still like wheeling more though.

My jeep was my DD, I got sick of the shitty ride, shitty acceleration, shitty gas mileage, etc. I got 10-12 MPG if I was lucky. I'm gonna buy a beater CJ to beat on, not an 05 TJ (with full coverage insurance, and a lein)

The SRT's are quick...but I think it's pointless they only came in Autos. When I first started reading about them, I was considering one...but I would never buy a car like that in an Automatic. I think the 'verts are kinda funny lookin though, I prefer the Coupes.

This was owned by a manager of a dealership... surprisingly it looks like it was taken care of decently. Although I did just clay bar and wax it, it wasn't in too bad of shape.

Exactly.

I can throw $20 in this tank, and drive for 4-6 days with my current driving habits. Whereas, the Jeep was taking roughly $20 every other day.

My wifes grandma has the bens. Check one out and you will be astonished at how many parts chrysler grabbed from their goody basket to build the crossfire. They are the same car just a WHOLE LOT CHEAPER!!!!

I dig it!

Interesting...

All of the components in my engine say "Mercedes Benz" and "Made in Germany". But it has a Chrysler engine cover (Which is interchangeable with the Benz cover..obviously)

I just jumped on a Crossfire forum to get an idea about what these guys are doing to modding these things, and they are taking them to Chrysler dealerships OR Benz dealerships for warranty work.

Sounds expensive, I'm glad it's a "Certified Pre-Owned" and I bought the extended warranty. You guys would probably be a little surprised as to how little you can buy these used for, considering their MSRP, I know I was.

My Uncle works out of the Toledo Jeep plant, and they had 3 of these in the family when they weren't moving so well - that employee special leasing arrangement that includes insurance that I don't fully know the details of.

I drove my Aunt's 6 speed hatch, and while it definitely had a more authoritative exhaust growl, and even more down low grunt, it also felt a lot bigger/heavier than it is.

For reference, I have an '01 Miata LS with the 6 Speed Manual which more than likely has ultimately lower performance capabilities than your crossfire even including cornering, but to me, the Miata just felt more confidence inspiring, and more nimble/tossable. (I'll readily concede that it I had owned the Miata for 18 months or so when I drove that Crossfire, and was thus obviously more familiar/comfortable with it than a first drive in the Crossfire)

Regardless, fun car. Welcome to the club of forced webwheeling

Don't ever put "Miata" and tossable into the same sentence....

I plan to probably get a beater to get me through the winter, and store this (Even if it's just from Dec-March).

Most of my latest jeep pics were under my ex girlfriends photobucket account and hard drive...

But you get the idea here:

05, rocky mountain edition 4.0, I-6 (dana 44 rear), snorkel, black steelies, 32" kumho m/ts.

Yes, the crossfire is the previous generation SLK320 with a different skin. I know at least when they came out, they'd be dropped at crhysler dealers, then flatbedded by the dealer to an MB dealer for service.

that was intentional

don't forget, in addition to the miata, I had a lifted Wrangler. I only needed a VW Beetle, or Subaru Outback to complete the gay car trifecta
