Default need help Wrenching, Roseville, MI, new question posed

Guys,

I made a topic a few weeks ago about getting a handicap lift donated, well good news, we got it! The family who we are getting it for is receiving a home makeover by the 13th of August.

Read this article, it was on the front cover of the Macomb Daily last Sunday (it had great pics, I may scan them in): http://macombdaily.com/stories/071308/loc_local02.shtml and www.paradoxchurch.com/homemakeover

Here is where you come in: Would any of you be willing to wrench on their van to bring it up to date? I know it needs brakes and a few other things. It has a trans slip from what I understand, but we can talk about that on spot.

The family is in Roseville, MI and I don't have a location yet for doing the work, so if you live close and have a garage, then speak up. If you are in SE MI and you can come just to help wrench and drink beer, speak up too. :)

Thanks dudes!

I am going to need someone to go with me and evaluate the condition of it. Either it can be understood to be polishing a turd and the direction needs to change, or it can be determined that it is repairable and priority can be determined on which repairs. I know now that it is an old hi-top ford van, it has a trans issue (bad as far as I understand), no muffler, no rear hear or air, and a bad starter.

Please respond here if you can go sometime possibly tomorrow night or monday night to check it out with me.

I can go with you and look at the trans and assess what needs to be done.

awesome, sending you a PM.

I talked to your friend Larry earlier today, he was very helpful to gather up some information on van modification if another unit was purchased or donated.

Tom, way to go man, thanks! Motor and trans are ok, needs about six repairs, nothing too crazy.

Will have a time and date and place setup soon, visit the meet, greet and wrench section of the forum for more info.

fixed the pics of the news article.

Tranny Tom verified the van's condition with me the other day and will send me a list of needed repairs today, most of it is pretty normal stuff, but may run into rounded bolts or rust. I plan on providing beer and pizza when we wrench.

Does anyone want to open up their garage and tools for this?

I am hoping to get it done before Aug 2nd so the family can take it out of town for their week away while their home is renovated.

I just gave info to Tranny Tom this morning so he could price out the exhaust and other parts. As soon as he knows the cost and date of availability, I will report back immediately. Thanks for checking in!!!

Guys, I need someone who has a scanner compatible with a 1993 model ford.

Please let me know if we can go on site and read codes, I don't think autozone goes that far back do they?

Dave, I have a scanner that will work. I can bring it to auburn hills or meet you.

I also have to get my jeep to tranny tom, so I can give him the scanner if necessary
