Default Fan failed?

I am trying to monitor temps in my Acer Laptop, Aspire 3004WLCI. I think the CPU fan may have failed because it seems to be running warm and I have been getting some freezing. This computer has been on 90% of the 3 years I have owned it, and I have been pretty hard on it (lots of use paint worn off of keys, mouse buttons etc...)

I downloaded speedfan, it is saying my core is 64*C, Temp 01 is 30*C and HD0 is 35*C. I do not know if the temps are accurate and this program seems to kind of suck for explanation of how to use it.

How do I tell if it is running hot and if a fan failed aside from opening it up and turning it on? I hear 'A' fan running but I thought it had 2. I have it siting on a cheap ass laptop cooling pad right now, but the temps are reading the same as when it wasn't.

AMD Mobile Sempron chipset.

You may have dirt in the fan vents, try blowing it out with a can of compressed air.
Had the same problem with my old laptop after a year of use.

Ok I saw how many access panels it has in the bottom, one fan and it is working. Lots of dust though. I am going to blow it out, the heat sink is ridiculously hot though IMO.

That should fix it, think about how hot your car would run with the radiator plugged full of cottonwood seed

It's already running quieter.... I took it outside and blew it out... holy nasty that fan was plugged, then I saw that has a direct ducting to the processor and I bet that was all plugged up too. I will keep monitoring it, but it seems the temp maybe stabilizing at just under 50* C but I haven't had it on long yet. It was 60-65*C after about 5 mins before.
