Use to be trails out towards Rosebush and east. I don't know if that is a legal wheeling area and I would advise that you check first. I'm originally from Mt.Pleasant and live in the Holland area. I believe there are seasonal roads in the northwest section of the county, towards clare area. You will have to again check your maps. It's been many, many years since I've played around up there.

BJB are you now going to CMU instead of Ferris?

Probably the closest place for trails would be up near Harrison, anything close to Mt. Pleasant is illegal and DNR watches them pretty close.

All of the trails around Mt Pleasant are illegal. Closest decent riding area is around Harrison. We ride around up there quite often, you're welcome to join us some time. I'm also from Mt P.

I'm also in this area, there are some places out around oil city , mostly seasonal roads and are currently pretty fun, Alot of narrow trails in the woods, national forest areas. some are still flooded and muddy, and you need a good setup. A winch is sometimes needed. I just came back from upnorth and around the leota area, old 27 there is a bunch of trails some orv didn't look at them much. There is some areas north of meridith up to roscommon over to st helens too. I'm also looking for some others to wheel with. I'm going up to leota area tueday afternoon to scout, I'm not sure what you have, but am looking for new places also.
I would like to get all the jeepers and other 4wds in this area and get something going as our own club or such.

The trails around Oil City are currently illegal, sucks because they are right around the corner from my house. There is also a club open to any brand although most are Jeeps, Jackpine 4 Wheel Drive Club based out of Mt Pleasant pretty loose group, but they do a lot of wheeling in the Leota area. I am the contact person for Jackpine if any of you are interested in doing a little wheeling drop me a line here.

A matter of fact we are leaving for Leota in about 1 hour to go do a little wheeling.

hey purplerhino,
I'm refering to the seasonal roads if you stay on them your okay, hunters and sightseeers use them the just get really bad do to the marsh and swamp areas. Lewis, geneva, magruder, the end of baseline, you can't ride atvs apparently but riding the roads should be fine to ride. I am interested in the group let me know ahead of time and I'll get with you. I have a 94yj and it's built for the trails.

I think I've passed you on Pickard a few times on my way home from work in the evening. I've got the purple XJ on 33s, it sees a lot of trail duty. We just got back from Harrison a few minutes ago. Got a few hours in on the trails, but nothing big today. Took me all week to get all the mud off and out from the 4th weekend. I'll let you know in advance next time we head out.

Yeah, was on my way home from work (Mt Pleasant RV Center on Broomfield).
There are a lot of good spots up there, I would try to contact Nightcrawler in an earlier thread (Moose Poker Run and you can PM him from there) he mentioned having time off right now and put up an open invite to hit the trails. He knows those trails as well as anyone.

I believe we are going back up Saturday afternoon to meet a few people from up in that area for a trail ride, if you'd like to meet up and join us let me know.

I'm checking on a 40 acre private parrcel that we may be able to wheel on in the Harrison area and close to Snow Snake where we could do a dual proporty ride. Will let you know. The trails up here are alot of fun and we have a few private prop places to let loose on.

I have lived in the area all my life, so I know of a lot of trails in the area. Just S of Farwell on Vandecar on County Line Road, nice mud hole, Leota area is nice for riding, little bit of mud, E of Mt P. on Chippewa Road (N of Bucks Run) there is some trails, and S on Coleman Road (E OF Mt. P.) about 4 miles there are some trails with mud. PM or email me if you wanna ride, need prolly a days notice though as my CJ is at my parents in Farwell.

I try to get out a few times a month, I think in August me and 89'XJ are going to go to Leota for a few days, camp and trailride. Let me know if anyone wants to tag along, I will try to find out a date and post a thread.

BTW, I also attend Central, going on my 3rd and final year. Will still be in the area though for another year or so before the next round of schooling starts up.
