hp guess with that cam and tuning??

looking good

360-380 is probably a realistic flywheel number without being an inflated BS number like some tuners advertise.

315 base I think, might be 295 but either way you're looking at 30-40 for the cam and a proper tune for premium fuel and you can bump that number up 20 or so hp from there. There is about 20-40hp available in a stock engine with just a different tune. From there you can add a cam and get anywhere from 20 to 40hp on an engine like this. RWHP numbers on offroad vehicles are all over the place so there's no good way to predict that.

Thanks for the info. I may look into a cam in my 5.3 after I run it for a while??? At the current rate that might be 10 years from now (face-palm).

A cam and supporting tune will be the biggest single thing you can do to the vehicle for power. From there you're looking at proper gearing (should be first though) and then a torque converter if it applies to you.

It's about $1k no matter how you split it to do a cam in a Gen 3 or 4 SBC. $400 cam, $120-$150 for valve springs $80-100 for heavy duty push rods and then $400-$500 for the tuning.

Or go with a 6.0 & leave it stock.

Thats another option, as I have one of those on the shelf also. Of course I would not want to leave it stock either.

I think Ben's build is great. He's taking his time & doing it right. Kudos. I was just poking at him. (and Bryce) I have no idea of the difference in performance between a stock/tuned 6.0 & a cammed/tuned 5.3 but my gut is the 5.3 will out perform the 6.0. Since Ben will never be done, we'll never be able to compare.

In high range, Ben's will get you... 20-30 more hp, probably similar or slightly lower torque. He has deeper axle gears and a better ratio spread in the trans. your low range to his low range, you'll get him all day long since he'll run out of gearing and RPM at about 40. I'm damn near afraid of yours in low range so both vehicles should be plenty fun and light on their feet.

If mine ever hits the dirt I'll put my high range against your low range.... Just for fun

Damn, I wish I would've known he were getting that cam. I've got an almost identical one I need to sell. I was gonna use it on the 6.0L but the valve overlap will bleed off boost with the supercharger so I'm looking for something in the 114-115LSA range. I love the lope but I can handle a little less once I hear the blower start singing!

He bought mine, it's a good thing he didnt know about yours!!! Post it up, there's a lot of people with stock 6.0's around here that might jump at it.

Yeah one of my buddies keeps claiming he'll buy it but I don't see it happening. If it's not gone soon I'll list it here. If anybody sees this and is interested in the meantime, it's a TSP 224/224 .581/.581 110LSA. Really nice lope without being so aggressive that you lose much of anything down low. 5k miles on it in perfect condition. $275. I'm looking for the same thing but 114-115LSA because I need less valve overlap due to forced induction.
