looking good

its a beautiful thing to finish a frame flipped rather than laying on your back eating dust and sparks.

Heres another thing that I think I'm going to do for my rear bumper. I think it will look pretty cool on my rig, plus I like the added clearence around the bumper. The Orange is just where I will be welding.

Heres a small update because I have had to set my jeep aside for my dads
M38A1. But heres a pic of my hitch and I will be adding some more gussets and so forth.

I added these plates (.135") for some added support because my new body mount and my cage tie-in will be on these plates. They will be fully welded aswell. I just didnt want to over heat the steel.

you are going to have problems with that trailer hitch..... your pin is too far back. the rear gusset "looks" cool but there isnt a need for it unless you are using .120" wall tube and if you are using .120 wall tube for a bumper then you will be having bigger issues come up.

when you do your "stitch" welds you should mark with a sharpie or a little tack where to start and stop after measuring the points so the welds turn out the same length

i did mark out the welds from each side than put a small one in the middle. Yes on some of them I went a little longer and shorter.. But Im still learning.

I think it will hold up I have seen it on some other rigs with no issue with less support, plus I dont plan on being stuck ever..

Why? Is the asthetics or appearance more important then penetration? yes, I said penetrate.

Benny, rig looks good. I'll get back to you about your PM.

Uppppppppppddaaaatees 4/17

Alright everyone, here is what I have been doing for the last few months,

http://www.mvpa.org/
Go to 2009 Convoy
This is something that my dad has organized and is leading and hes talking this:

All the way across the country, so while he has been planning I got the lucky task for checking everything, changing fluids and preparing the soft top and adding some things to make the 3500+ miles drive a little more comfortable.

As well as working on the willies Jeep, we bought this trailer (has wooden sides and floor but removed it for cleaning) for $500 bucks.

Adding hide-away ramps

Tandem electric brakes

Other little goodies.

Still need to add some other parts to the trailer than its golden and when my dads gone for the month I have a empty garage to work on my jeep.

My dad tells me that everytime we talk about the jeeps, hes comment for everything has been;
"your jeep might be able to climb rocks and waterfalls and go fast in the dunes BUT, my jeep won a war."
I found out this little guy, even with 4 clyinders is a blast to drive on and off the road. IF you see me in Clarkston driving it honk your horn.. I'll wave.

I'd bet M38A1 has won plenty of wars....just none that the USA was involved in. They made a crap-ton of those things and left them on just about every continent, some South American dictator or resistance group is probably waging war from the seat of one right now.

That is where the "hide away" part comes in
