Default Metro Beach Offshore Race 7/19-20, Volunteers Needed

http://www.lakestclair.net/forums/in...pic=54592&st=0

Metro Beach and Harrison Township will be the site of round 2 of the OPA offshore racing schedule. We expect 60 boats to attend this event, ranging in speed from 70 to 200 mph. It will be the event of the summer for Lake St. Clair and you can be a part of it.

We need volunteers to act as patrol boats and medical boats. Also we can use experienced rescue divers, crane help and general support. If you would like to help out, please send me an email to wahoo214@comcast.net.

Regarding engines running, I saw this:
http://www.lakestclair.net/forums/in...t=#entry692093
We need turn boats and patrol boats. The biggest boats we can find will be turn boats so we can see them from a distance. You do not need to keep your boat running, if you volunteer as a patrol boat you will be assigned a strecth of the course to monitor for spectator boats getting too close. Once the spectator line is established you should need to move aroung very much.

We also need people to help with scoring and registration. Even if it is only for an hr we could use all the help we can get.

Thank you,

Dean Howard

I use to do this with a friend on Ford Lake in Ypsi... Patrol/tow boat it was a lot of fun and it was a great view of the race. If you have a rig you should consider this for sure.

OPA doesn't go buy size if I remember right, its bracket racing, you pick a class you are comfortable with and don't break out.
