Does anyone know what trans is in a 88 Ford Ranger 4x4 with the 2.9l V6

fm 146 if it is stick and an A4LD if it is auto

it might be the m5od.

i know the 4.0 trans will bolt up to the 2.9L.

nah, if it's an 88 4x4 2.9 it's almost positive it'll be the FM146. otherwise someone put something else in it.

but in defense it seems 88 was a change over year, and it may be a Toyo Koygo left over from '87's stock if it turns out to be a very early build '88. Thats about the only other thing it could be.

i would get an m5od-hd out of a 01+ 4.0 ranger and throw it in it.

i think anything 93+ with a 4.0 should be the m5od-hd.

i'm not 100% sure.
