I don't necessarily disagree with the decision. I can think of quite a few punishments that are FAR more painful (both physically and emotionally) than death.

Oh so you think thats what their intent is to come up with something worse than death, holly shit you might just be right thats why they said the punshiment was cruel and unusual, that way they could come up with something worse. DAH
