how often do you buy a $25000 car once every 5 or 6 years
16,153,952 new cars and light trucks were sold in 2007.

That's $403,848,800,000 at $25,000 a unit. Average selling price is close to $30,000 so it is even more than that.

Most of the shirt manufacturers are still U.S. based companies. So $2 gets sent overseas and the remaining $18 stays here. (I know the figures probably aren't accurate)

Nothing can be perfect, and I can't purchase everything that is made here by a company that is based here.

But for fukc 's sakes when you live in Michigan and the economy here is so heavily based on the Detroit Three would anyone buy anything but?

It's a long term version of shooting yourself in the foot.

If you think your job will still be here if the Detroit Three take off along with all the tier one, two, and three suppliers that exist in this state take off, you are extremely ignorant.

I know you're a civil engineer. You get paid by the state government probably. Companies take off, there goes tax dollars. Their employees and families leave, there goes more tax dollars. Oh, sorry, roll-bar Bob doesn't fit into the budget due to the decreased tax dollars. There goes your job.

You do realize Toyota and Honda have lemons too don't you?

Those states have an economy that is dependent on something else other than the automotive industry.

Nationwide, an extremely large chunk of this economy is dependent on the U.S. auto industry. To think otherwise is being extremely short sited.
Even if it means you won't lose your job, it WILL affect the work you will be doing.

Last I checked the economy encompassed everything sold. We will just have to agree to disagree.
