Default bed liner prep

I'm about 2-3 weeks from spraying the tub of my TJ with U-pol Raptor
bed liner ....I took out the carpet ( not in prep for this job , but due to it being soaked in Tuesday's rain) and found that some of the sheet metal
( under the seat) where they have laminated the body with various cross members and sheet metal structure , have gaps between where they overlay each other ....I am sure that other people have seen this , so what did everyone use to fill the gaps so you have a nice smooth application for spraying or did you just leave it . Just for the record I have a 2006 TJ SWB.

when i did the bed in my f150 i didn't fill the gaps because the bed liner is thick enough to fill em up. but highly praise good prep work the better and more you do, the better it will look.

x2.

Sand the crap out of it, don't miss any spots. Tape it off and take your time.
