back in 98, we moved out to the country. we had been in the house about 2 weeks. not all the way unpacked yet so a bunch of stuff was still in the basement. we had a real bad storm that night and the next day when i got up there was no power. So I opened the basement door to see if the breaker was tripped. there was stuff floating about four steps down. we had about 6 feet in the basement. the idiot who had installed the sump didn't use a check valve and the damn sump pit was the highest point in the basement.

So then I go to wake up mom and dad. I happen to glance out the window and notice that I can't even see the grass in the yard because theres about 1 1/2foot of water 360 degrees around the house. except in the back yard where it varied between 2-12feet deep. everything in the basement was ruined. including about 1200 records, a new computer, and a shit load of clothes and furniture. getting flooded sucks balls. that and the road was washed out so we had to go about ten miles out of our way to get to town.
