Alright, now we need to see that bad Bug up at the dunes with a set of GIANT paddle tires, screaming up the hills. Sweet Vee-Dub!

I can't believe he wheels it very hard if the D44 is holding up to 49's.

now think about that for a minute. what weight is on the dana 44? motor is in the back. only weight on the front axle is some sheet metal and the tires. And in mud why wouldnt it hold up? Ive wheeled with kurt before. and he beats the piss out of his rigs. he also has an s-10 blazer that the 49s are ussually on.

Yeah, I buy that in the mud. I ran 38.5's on a D25 years ago & it held up surprisingly well. It's the pic of him on the rocks that got me wondering. Get a tire bound up while turning & it's a weak link.

Hey, it's a cool looking rig & I'm not trying to start a flame fest.

if the tire gets wedged he can just pop a wheelie and ride out of it.

besides you need at least 3 more years of street cred before you can start being a dana 60 guy ripping on 44s. you are still in dana 60 front diapers. your time will come grasshopper. wax on wax off.

That is what I was thinking, there is no weight up there, so why not?

I know your not, but even on the rocks he is probably pretty light in the front and its not a major concern, or at least thats my guess.

either way like you say, no flamefest and the thing is cool

He has a 60 in the blazer and that is what the 49 are on most of the time, but with the motor in the back helps save some axle shafts in the 44

OK OK, it'l never break. Gotcha.

I never brought my vehicle into the discussion. I've run tons of different tire/axle combos over the years & never been successful running much over a 37 on a D44 without breaking "eventually". My 60 may be in diapers but my wheeling experience isn't. If you had seen 95geo pop his yukon shaft on 37's on the wimpy logs at UOC, you'd see what I mean. No load, light vehicle, slight turn.........boom. If you think I'm ripping on a D44, you're misreading me.

But, since everyone is convinced that he won't break it, I stand corrected.

we're not worthy O' god of thee 60, when you take your michigan wheeling diaper off then you would see 49's on a dana 44 are retarted nomatter what weight or power is on it.

nobody even thought about the leverage placed on the little bearings, ball joints, spindle, brakes, etc.....

I am not a axle expert BY NO MEANS.. But isnt it somewhat common sense when your putting a 49in tall tire on a axle that was in most 1/2 ton and smaller...(some old 3/4) trucks. That maybe your pushing the limit of the dana 44. I agree with what 95Geo says because its not just weather a axle shaft will break, but everything else and even axle tubes and the housing its self because what if he comes Mack 10 outta a mud hole and launches that thing in the air, when it lands on that 44 on either tire its going to explode.... Once again I may be wrong cause like I said Im no genius just speaking my mind...
