Default squeaking from the front axle.

I could rip it apart and find out whats wrong but im trying to get some opinions so I can go out and buy what may be the problem and have it on hand just incase.

I have manual hubs and a twin sticked dana300. cruising around everything is fine which means the hubs are fine and they are because i had them off 2 hours ago. When I lock the hubs and engage the front axle it makes this horrible squeaking noise. I was thinking it may be axle bearings but am not sure. I was thinking the U-joints but I they have barely any miles on them but it could still be it. Any ideas? as of now im just going to get new seals, new axle bearings, and new U-joints to hope that fixes it and i see nothing else wrong. Im just hoping I dont need to replace the axles or the have to get work done on the diff. Trying to get this ready for spring wheeling, still have to get new shocks installed, put new seals in my dana300, new serpintine belt, and change the oil. all while im trying to get my other car ready to be painted in two weeks

thanks for the help,

Ty

edit: oh yeah its extemely loud, like when i engaged it on my street to see if it was still doing it all my nieghboors where staring at me. so its actually a squeeking/grinding noise

Does the noise go away after it's engaged, or does it just happen while engaging?

it happens when im driving and the axle internals are moving. Engaging it is fine its not in the t-case because I ran without a shaft and checked that once. I just havent had the time to rip the axle apart to find out whats going on.

had that happened once, it was an axle shaft (passenger side) cracked
