personally I would just pay the fine and move on. I know plenty of people who have gotten screwed by trying to fight the ticket. including increased ticket fines, community service, etc.. I know nobody who has fought and won. still, good luck.

I would appeal to a formal hearing and hire Big Cuntry to be your lawyer. But be careful and read the legal bill carefully when you get it. Cause that fucker can't add, subtract, divide or multiply.

Maybe Big Cuntry can get it moved to Lenawee county where he has represented himself successfully on so many occasions.

I'd request the formal hearing regardless. "Cutting you a break" would have been issuing the window tint ticket, not the moving violation. Doesn't matter if its zero points when it comes to your record. If you ever apply for a professional driving job of some type, it will still show up and can be held against you.

Why the hell did you show the calibration and then state your speedo was off?

To try to get a defective equipment ticket instead of the speeding ticket I would assume.

I think he got a break when the trooper wrote him for the 5 over. If the cop was really the prick he's been portrayed as, he would have asked to amend the ticket UP to the original speed.

Sorry you got a ticket. There is really only one way to avoid them...............

slow down.

Reminds me of a formal I watched several years ago; Smart ass kid comes in with some BS shop bill saying the speedometer calibration is off. The judge replies "The state of Michigan doesn't even require a speedometer, but it does require you go the speed limit. So I don't care if you have to count the telephone poles or lines on the road and multiply by some magic number to go the legal speed, you still have to!" Several of us had to go out into the hallway we started laughing so hard

I already paid the fine. It was $115 for 5 over with no extra court costs - 0 points. I told the cop before I showed him the calibration sheet that I thought I was doing 70, but may have been doing 75 because of the speedo. But the "favor" was NOT writing the ticket for 85 in a 70, since he paced me. Where the heck 85 in a 70 came from I don't know. It was a huge waste of time and money but I had to try.

Its been 13 years since my last moving violation and over 20 years since the only other moving violation. So I think my record is pretty clean. I'm a lot more careful driver as far as speed goes now. I'm just gonna try a fly below radar with my insurance company.

I don't want to take it any further, so Big C will have to keep "defending with himself".

Hombre and Renegade, you sound like you may be cops - Are police being told to not reduce or dismiss any tickets for money purposes? Are there really quota's that have to be met?

One of my biggest fears in life is that Big Cuntry will start multiplying.

Not that I'm aware of. As far as the money thing for the state goes, most cops don't pay any attention to that. It's not our problem to deal with. For me personally, I hope the state finally does run out of money and they lay me off. If that happens, I could actually have the time to put my Jeep back together and drive the thing once in a while.

We've discussed the quota thing on here before. Here is why he didn't dismiss or reduce the ticket. He felt he already cut you a break for only writing you for 5 mph over and for not giving you a ticket for the tinted windows. That simple. I'm sure he has no hard feelings about you fighting the ticket......that's business. Good luck with the "under radar" thing. That usually works.

Thank you there Hombre...I'm not a cop hater or anything, I just didn't like the arrogant attitude the officer had.

By the way, here is a hint to everyone going to court:

TURN OFF YOUR CELL PHONES WHEN YOU GO INTO THE COURT ROOM.

It pisses off the cops and the judge. Two girls kept getting rings while court was in session. When they got up to the docket after me the judge didn't even give them a chance to talk. They said "resposible w explaination" and the judge said "When can you pay the fine and we don't take checks". Now that was funny. I walked out after that, but they were in line behind me to pay about 15 seconds after i walked out of the court room.

I've found that the more threatening you are, the more apt they are to leave you alone. It's good personal policy to threaten the police anytime they make contact with you.

A good way to avoid tickets is to drive a minivan. I drive as fast as I want, usually 10-15 over.

Most courts don't even allow cellphones in the building anymore.

In the future contact Mathew L. Norwood he fights your first traffic ticket for free if it is in Genesee county. He is also good friends with the prosecuting attorney in Flint. He got me out of a careless driving ticket last year in Flint from when i put my silverado sideways at the 3rd ave entrance to Kettering.

Norwood's # is (810) 235-4639

Use the your speed detector was poorly maintained and it threw the reading off. I heard they have to be re calibrated every 3 months, or something like that and most cops don't do it.
