Default getting the dirt/mud off the engine

I've got a jeep and have never taken the dirt/mud off of the engine. I know, sounds stupid. but I don't have to pop the hood. it's real new. Question is: I have to go to a quarter wash and want to know if the engine has to be cold to spray it off??? I don't want to cause any harm ps. I'm a girl.:tonka:

If it's really hot it will steam up but it shoudn't hurt anything. It's no different than driving into a big water hole trail riding.

Oh and, keep it out of the intake!!!!!

You can buy engine cleaner at any auto parts store. Spray that on and let it sit for a few mins. Than spray it off.

Like said just stay away from the intake, also don't take the powerwasher to close to the radiator... spray it from a good distance as not to damage the fins.

See the box with the "horn" sticking off it on the left of this picture?

that would be the intake, your jeep whether the same as this TJ or a yj or xj will have something similar to look for.

Stay away from the "horn" and stay away from teh hose that runs from the back of the box to the top of hte engine.
