It was an illegal invasion, therefore it is an illegal occupation. Think about it.

To a certain extent. I agree with you, but at the same time we sort of have a responsibility to clean up our mess. I don't really give a shit, but anyway, the people want us out and I totally understand and agree to that. We're there because we want a government that WE want, not what THEY want.

Sure, but there are many other ways to "clean up our mess".

By the way, we've won the war in Iraq.

Ya, because a soldier won your freedom to do that. http://www.greatlakes4x4.com/showthread.php?t=93147

Exactly our point. The war is OVER. It's an OCCUPATION resulting from an illegal attack, therefore the occupation is illegal. http://www.greatlakes4x4.com/showthread.php?t=93147

A 'war' is the act of overthrowing a government and defeating its government military force. We did that back when Dubya landed on the carrier with the banner that said "Mission Accommplished".

An "occupation" is, well, obvious.

It's just hard when they say that were over there to fight terrorism, and there are still terrorists and guys getting blown up with IEDs. Not saying your wrong, but it's a short-sighted victory. There is just a lot of grey area that makes it kind of a mess.

So when will we get the last terrorist, so our soldiers can come home?

How are soldiers still getting hurt/killed? Don't they have clearly identifyable enemies?

How many more terrorists are left in the world?

I don't know, nor do any of us, who exactly the people with the IEDs ARE. Let's just say, for fun, that we had been invaded by Chinese and Russian forces, were severely outnumbered, most of us had been blown away already, we had very little left to fight with, etc. and we wanted these people OUT. Would WE be planting IED's? I mean, it's a very real possibility. Our government forces won't allow reporters in to the areas to get the real story, and we're only allowed to hear what we're ALLOWED TO HEAR.

Just because someone is fighting to get invaders out of their country doesn't mean they are a terrorist. Actually, I think that makes them defenders.

I'm not a writer so I let those that are do......

June 9, 2008 -- AMERICA has won, or is about to win, the Iraq war.

The latest proof came last month, as the Iraqi army - just a few months ago the target of scorn and abuse from Democratic politicians and journalists - forcefully reoccupied three cities that had served as key insurgency bases (Basra, Sadr City and Mosul).

Sunnis and Shias alike applauded as their nation's army compelled insurgent militias to lay down their arms. The country's leading opposition newspaper, Azzaman, led the applause for the move into Mosul - a sign that national reconciliation in Iraq is under way and probably irreversible.

US combat deaths in May also were down to 20, the lowest monthly total since February 2004. The toll for May 2007 was 121.

In a Washington Post interview, CIA Director Michael Hayden said we're witnessing the "near strategic defeat of al Qaeda in Iraq."

......Here is some more......

"On balance, we are doing pretty well," he said, ticking down a list of accomplishments: "Near strategic defeat of al-Qaeda in Iraq. Near strategic defeat for al-Qaeda in Saudi Arabia. Significant setbacks for al-Qaeda globally -- and here I'm going to use the word 'ideologically' -- as a lot of the Islamic world pushes back on their form of Islam," he said.

The sense of shifting tides in the terrorism fight is shared by a number of terrorism experts, though some caution that it is too early to tell whether the gains are permanent. Some credit Hayden and other U.S. intelligence leaders for going on the offensive against al-Qaeda in the area along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, where the tempo of Predator strikes has tically increased from previous years. But analysts say the United States has caught some breaks in the past year, benefiting from improved conditions in Iraq, as well as strategic blunders by al-Qaeda that have cut into its support base.

"One of the lessons we can draw from the past two years is that al-Qaeda is its own worst enemy," said Robert Grenier, a former top CIA counterterrorism official who is now managing director of Kroll, a risk consulting firm. "Where they have succeeded initially, they very quickly discredit themselves."

My words now....

Despite the best efforts of the defeatist leftists in this country, we have won on the Iraqi front and are winning the overall war against Al Qaeda's Islamic Facism.

If they ever attacked again, we'd have a better claim (and we could approach it better) to rally support in our favor with the other nations.

Is it better to remain in a definite threat as opposed to a possible threat?
