I have a little chevy cavalier I got for $20.

It's not a bad little ride, and I get 400 miles out of a tank.

And since gas costs less than diesel fuel, I don't mind driving it around anymore :tonka:

My Neon gets 30 mpg and I car pool.
So I only drive every other week.

600 miles every 2 weeks and I only buy 10 gallons of gas

1963 VW BEETLE: fun, parts are cheap, insurance is cheap, hell I even have a 1963 license plate thats registered for life.
gets about 40mpg in town and it has gotten a best of 68mpg drafting at about 70mph on I-75 behind a semi truck and trailer (not recomended for anyone with a heart condition or when travelling with the wife)

Find a Geo Metro or old school Honda Civic CRX HF or even a Ford Festiva: The worst fuel economy of the three is 45 mpg.

It is NOT just about gas mileage, it is also about dollars invested up front. If I buy a car for a grand and it gets 6 miles per gallon less than a car you buy for 4000, I still win big, assuming both cars are without major mechanical failure. I should be saving serious money within six months time, and it if lasts for over a year, I will win big.

Hey guys, dont rule out Geo Trackers. I use my 97 as a dd to save wear and tear on my truck and also use it to play around with. I get close to 30 and still have a four wheel drive convertible. Its basically the cheapest four wheeler I have ever owned and its street legal!

x2

IIRC I use to average 29-ish mpg mixed driving in my 92 2door vert 4x4 5speed. It was also the simplest timing belt Ive ever changed.

2002 Focus ZX3 5spd.

36mpg all highway, 29-32mpg mixed, 26mpg trying to straighten curves and flatten hills. Still pulling those numbers on original plugs and wires- 121k miles and counting.
