And BTW, I think our area has the highest gas prices in Michigan, at least in the lower peninsula. My gas light came on this morning in the XJ and at $3.58 per gallon for "economy" fuel, well, it's a good thing I love my Jeep. Just over 48 miles round trip to work each day; I have a decent job and like where I live. Thought about getting an economy car... pictured myself in a little rice-burner with dinner-plate sized tires, looking up at the underside of my Jeep in the driveway... decided I'll suck it up for the gas. May consider a bike for summer, though the tourists around here make that a pretty scary option, not to mention the lovely northern Michigan roads. (Hello, pothole!)
Probably won't be taking many trips in the Grand Wagoneer this summer, though!

When I started gas was about $1.40 a gallon.Out of the 3 years I worked there, I only recieved a 25 cent raise, even though gas doubled! I am thinking about buying a bike to scoot around town, seeing I spend an average of $15 every other day just driving the XJ here and there.
It only takes $12 and change to fill up my bike once it hits its reserve. So figure about 130-150 miles on 3 1/2 gallons. The savings after the monthly payments for the insurance and the bike itself actually offsets the cost to fill up the truck over the month.

I need premium in my car, so I pay $3.60ish per gallon around here. Takes me about $45 to fill up and I do that about 5 times a month. When the gas costs more than my car payment, I will start to complain. It is getting close though.

I currently drive 96 miles round trip for work, but being in the construction trades that changes every month or 2. I figure it costs me around $16 dollars a day for my work commute in the libby getting about 20mpg. Gas would have to more than double for it to have any real impact on my driving habits. Although I am considering spending the $100 on parts for the saturn that gets 34 mpg so I can drive that sometimes.

When you figure those little bottles of water everyone is buying works out to almost $20 per gallon for something that is "free". The price of gas should not be an issue. I dont buy bottled water it saved alot of money for gas. Saves the landfills too.

When you are employed by a company who works in the oil and natural gas business and spend everyday trying to get more out of the ground. High oil prices means more work and better for me.

People actually still pay for gas? I guess nobody told you how to steal tanks full at a time with a simple piece of aluminum foil.:tonka:

Its the whole reason I moved to Grand Haven. I was spending $700 a month on gas alone.

Gas affected my decision making last year. I needed a new car, so I got an HHR Panel, nice rubber mat in the back for when I haul something, and 30 MPG hiway.

I walk anywhere ~ 1mile, and use the Honda Elite Scooter for longer trips.

Neighbor just got a Geo Metro- 53 MPG!

gas started to hurt last year... so i have a gas sipper now and it still hurts. 222 miles one way, car pooling is possible in 2 weeks since we all work the same hours and live with in a few miles of eachother. But i was given a ver nice bike for the summer so i will be riding as much as possible, only thing is an hour commute by bike each way and a 10 hour day makes for long day

$3.55 here today, how come when oil price is record high, it jumps up that day?
And when it goes down to i.e. $80/brl it doesn't jump right down that day for sure?????
WTF is going on ,and WTF can we do just pay and take it. WTF happen to the 3 month offset for refineries ? Damn record profit, the $%&*ing supply/demand is killing us !
I'm pissed now. Good night.

In 6 months you'll all be begging for $3.50/gal. it's not going down so buy it while it's cheap! This is a pattern I've noticed. Say gas is $3.19 like it was, they then jacked the price up to 3.55 for a couple of days...a couple of days later it goes down to 3.43...people see this and buy up all the gas they can thinking it's a good deal even though it's much more than it was the week before. This trend will keep on working its way up. Gas will go to $4.00 for a couple days, go down to $3.70 then shoot up to $4.20 and then go down to $4.00. They just make you think it's a good deal when really you're still paying a substantial amount more than you originally would have the previous week. I don't see an end to this but I surely hope it happens.
