TTB Alignment

Where is the best place to get a TTB aligned in northern Oakland or southern Lapeer county? I've had my Ranger in twice and it still does not drive straight! I need a good, knowledgeable mechanic.

dealers really aren't all that expensive for things like that.... especially since you already wasted your money twice with people who don't know what they are doing. You could have had it done right once at the dealership for less.

is all your steering components tight? How about your ball joints? If everything is tight then once the alignment is done it should go straight, unless something is majorly bent. Make sure your tires are balanced too.

FIRST thing ANY alignment technician (that knows wtf he's doing) should do when aligning a vehicle with a pull issue is check the tires: are they all inflated properly? If so, swap the front two tires and see if the pull follows the tire.....

Any chance you have the print out from the alignment(s)?

The whole front end was rebuilt around a year ago (ball joints, tie rods, drag link), tires are newer and recently balanced. Both shops tell me the alignment is in spec and front end is tight, still no go. This is not a trail rig it was my dd and sees very little back road driving. I need someone who really knows how the ttb works to figure out what is going on.

Cross rotation of tires has no effect, even swapping out for the tires/wheels on my BII had no effect. Sorry I do not have the alignment specs.

sucks your so far away, TTB Alignments is my thing. Sure you don't have a dragging caliper or overtightened wheel bearing

I don't remember seeing any abnormal break wear the last time I pulled the wheels, would a tight bearing cause that much pull? You seriously do not let go of the wheel traveling faster than 40-50 or you will be in the oncoming traffic. I will have to check it out again this weekend. Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

Westland is a bit far for me but if push comes to shove, I might just do that. I agree, something has to be tweaked or worn out, just can't seem to find a mechanic who has a clue. This sucks even more because I work in the automotive field and deal with so called "mechanics" all day long...

to check an overtightened wheel bearing...drive a short distance and feel the hub for heat....


sounds like play in the drag link or stupid for steering y shape system

retorque your wheel bearings

Inner locknut- 30 ft lbs, back off nut 1/4 turn, tighten 16 in lbs (do this procedure while spinning the rotor)
Outer locknut- Tighten to 150 ft lbs

If thats how they treat your rig, than i would take it to the dealership in the next closest town. it sucks when your stuff gets put on the back burner, i was trying to keep a local guy afloat, but all he wanted to do is tinker with his race car as my truck sat outside (my dd) once you wait over a week for a power steering pump, it makes the deal kinda sour. hope you get to the bottom of your issue.
