I hadn't until today. 1979 CJ 7 with the Renegade pkg. 360/400/300 combo from the factory. Vin# supports this and so do all the id#'s on the parts.

I think the vin would only support that it had a V8, didn't know it was so specific to actually tell that it is a 360. This is very very new to me, I had no idea that this ever hapened.

I call bullshit.

The TH400 and Dana 300 were not even used in the same decades of production. Post a picture of the VIN plate. (Anybody can open a Chilton manual and put together the codes.)

That's what I was thinking, but they were only a year off so I didn't bring it up. Still doesn't sound credible to me.

I agree, I never heard of this but I seen it. I didn't look the vin# up just took the guy at his word that when he checked the vin# it came back as a 360. the block is stamped 360 the trans has turbo 400 tag & the id on the case is dana 300. He is supposably only the second owner. The first owner swears he drove it off the lot as it is.

the vin would say that it has a 360, not just a V8, but as PP said, the only way to settle all of it would be to see a pic of the vin tag

hm. very interesting. as PP said, they never used the 400/300 combo, it was a 400/quadratrac. I have heard rumors that some people say that some 360's have been found in CJ's. I still strongly disagree with that. 304's were the only V8 to come in 70's CJ's

If anything, maybe it was a dealer modification, and the first owner bought it off the lot as is. But i would be interested to see the vin

79 should have been either dana 20 or quadratrac, no dana 300 offered. 79 was an odd year, only year 304 and t-18 were availible together.

I've looked at tons of cj's that the owner claims it's a 360 or 401, they are always 304's.

Yup, it's factual if it's on the interweb thingy

I do remember a friend of mine being pissed because he couldn't order a 360 in a CJ7 in the 80's, so he got a Bronco instead.

I plowed with an automatic CJ7 with a 360, but that engine came out of a Cordoba.

I agree with this. And show us where the vin tag from a CJ says that it had a 360? I call bullshit also.

I'd love to see the factory TH400-D300 adapter.
