Default Sum Beach

It's April and we've had 2 winter storm warnings already, the first one dumped almost 20" in some areas outside of town, the second one wasn't to badmaybe 6-8" out side of town.

Now we have this

Winter Storm Warning

/O.CON.KMQT.WS.W.0004.080411T0900Z- 080413T0000Z/ BARAGA-MARQUETTE- INCLUDING THE CITIES OF...L'ANSE... MARQUETTE 415 PM EDT THU APR 10 2008
...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 5 AM FRIDAY TO 8 PM EDT SATURDAY...

A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 5 AM FRIDAY TO 8 PM EDT SATURDAY.

SNOW WILL DEVELOP THIS EVENING AND BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES. AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW ARE ALSO EXPECTED BY EARLY FRIDAY MORNING NEAR LAKE SUPERIOR...AS NORTHEAST WINDS GUST UP TO AROUND 40 MPH. AS A RESULT... REDUCED VISIBILITIES TO AROUND A MILE OR LESS WILL BE POSSIBLE THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT. STORM TOTAL SNOW AMOUNTS OF 10 TO 24 INCHES CAN BE EXPECTED BY THE TIME THE HEAVY WET SNOW LIGHTENS UP LATE SATURDAY. THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED ALONG THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS NORTH OF NEGAUNEE AND ISHPEMING. THERE COULD ALSO BE SOME SLEET MIXED IN WITH THE SNOW ON FRIDAY SOUTH OF GWINN WHICH WOULD GIVE LOWER STORM SNOWFALL AMOUNTS THERE.

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW... SLEET... AND ICE ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.

And just when I was looking forward to getting the motorcycle out.

I love the UP

Can't forget this warning that came with it also

Coastal Flood Statement

/O.NEW.KMQT.LS.S.0003.080411T0900Z- 080413T0000Z/ MARQUETTE- 330 PM EDT THU APR 10 2008
AS EAST TO NORTHEAST WINDS INCREASE TO 25 TO 45 KNOTS OVER LAKE SUPERIOR TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY...WAVES BUILDING TO 15 TO 20 FEET WILL BEGIN TO AFFECT THE LAKE SUPERIOR SHORELINE OF MARQUETTE COUNTY ON FRIDAY. THESE HIGH WAVES WILL CAUSE MINOR BEACH EROSION. IN ADDITION...IT IS LIKELY THAT THE HIGH WAVES WILL CAUSE WATER TO WASH ONTO LAKESHORE BOULEVARD BETWEEN PINE STREET AND HAWLEY STREET IN THE CITY OF MARQUETTE. HIGH WAVES WILL CONTINUE TO POUND THE SHORELINE THROUGH SATURDAY EVEN THOUGH WINDS WILL BEGIN TO DIMINISH OVER LAKE SUPERIOR.

USE CAUTION IF TRAVELING NEAR THE LAKE SUPERIOR SHORELINE LATE TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY. DO NOT VENTURE NEAR BREAKWALLS OR OTHER STRUCTURES ALONG THE SHORELINE...AND DO NOT DRIVE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. PLEASE RELAY ANY OBSERVED FLOODING OR BEACH EROSION TO LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OR THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MARQUETTE.

I like seeing the spring come, but if that hit where I was I'd definitely be hiking for some turns.

I refuse to have sympathy for people in the UP crying about snow.

Get a map.

You don't have tornadoes.
