Default Opinions of the 2008 Dodge Avenger

I'm looking to possibly purchase an Avenger. What experiences have you guys had with them? Any known issues? Any opinions on the engine options?

i spent about 1000 miles in a 3.5L AWD r/t about a month ago...

it wasnt bad, i would call it basic commuter transport... nothing fancy...

I did like it better than my 05 sebring conv...

is that the same 3.5L they put in the magnums/chargers/300s? if so thats a solid motor with plenty of power.. and in a car the size of the avenger i bet its pretty fun..

its not bad, although for the price of an avenger, for slightly more, the charger is much more car.

Not really. We tooled around in a sebring conv in hawaii, and also had a 3.5 in our charger there as well. Not much to write home about.

From what I know, chryslers working on a big overhaul since the cars are mid-bottom of the pack in that segment.

We just leased a Charger with a 3.5, so we drove both cars..the lease payments were very close but the Charger felt a bit more comfortable to us and I couldnt tell any performance difference.

We have an 08 avenger and don't like it. It drives nice but the seats are hard and uncomfortable, no good places to rest your arms, and its hard to see out of.

as for mechanicals i haven't seen much wrong with them yet. just a few stupid recalls on them.

if it were me buying a car i would chose the charger over the avenger, but its not a bad car

As is the rest of the interior on the JS platform....

1) interior blows
2) gas mileage isn't stellar
3) (personal opinion here) Chrysler quality in these vehicles isn't exactly the best - we had a fleet vehicle over the summer, brand new production and the interior had various rattles (though it was first production run)
4) While I have no idea if its expensive in comparison to competitive vehicles, you have to spend more money on it than its worth, IMO....

I'd stay away from it unless you really really like it, insurance is decent, and they're offering super super awesome incentives on them (don't think they're selling good anyhow so this may be true)

Plus, I thought you were going to be working for GM??

I'd rather buy a Dodge Avenger than a Ford or a Chevy. I'm just not a Ford or Chevy person. Everyone has their preferences.
