Yea, if you lean out a mixture from say 9:1 to 12:1, you'll probably see a gain in power.

Lean is anything with more air than 14.7:1, and rich is anything with less air than 14.7:1.

He seems to be arguing lean makes more power, not leaning it from a super rich condition.

Yes. Top fuel teams still run on the verge of hydro lock and they are a forced induction engine.

There comes a point where too much fuel is bad and too much air is bad.

I'mg arguing that about 12:1 to 12.5:1 is the best A/F ratio for performance generally speaking, he's saying that was wrong.

Turns out he was using his personal definition of what "rich" is.

Yes, it's stupid to argue on the internet but I'm bored as hell at work and have nothing better to do.

He's not too far off with those numbers, depending on the head design.

My bad, he's saying that it wasn't. I was saying that it is.

14.7 to 1 is good for gas, but for alchol or methonal that all changes. maybe he was talking about a different fuel?

I was thinking that. 14.7:1 is more of an evironmental compromise.

Different fuels it changes but generally right around 12:1 is for the best performance with gas.

I shouldn't have even made this post.

The guy was just frustrating me, but he just couldn't explain what he was saying correctly.
