Default Ask Dick Devo about land

Seems Dick Devo is running for office id like to hear his thought on land closue in Michigan . DNR has closed many forest roads with out reason or rhym . Id like to see some one from Great lakes association attend one of his public forums and ask where he stands on the DNR closing forest roads .

I have read his rediric and it is not clear , he supports out doorsman . In what manner ? He needs to be ask point blank where he stands on closure of public lands , does he recognize the problem with accessing lakes and so on with the continued closure of forest roads .

what will he do to reform the DNR and stop said land closure's .

so heres my letter...

hello Mr. Devos,
I am writing on Behalf of our ORV Club(s). We want to know where you stand on issues of public land closers? we have millions of acres of Public lands and the ORV users get so little use of it its measured with a decimal point in front. I have been working for years to reopen road shoulders to access by ATVs and bigger areas for the larger ORVs because there are few trails in the state that accomodate our growing numbers. our members would like to know if you plan to save our state from Granholm's "forest certification?" we feel its the first step to her selling off the resources of our state to the highest bidder and it has all the makings of a permenant land closer for us all. how would you plan to help the folks of Our state keep what we have and reopen ORV access to closed areas? it would be nice if you had the time to visit our web site and make yourself known to our members and how you stand on the issues we face. thanks for you time Dana(Yetti)Smith
www.atvoffroad.net
www.glfwda.org
www.greatlakes4x4.com
the sites above are the clubs we have at our disposal to get the word out if you plan to be on the side of outdoorsmen and ORV users in this state. We cover a huge area and we are growing every day.

tell me what you think...I can take it.

I just read the interview they had in the GVSU newspaper and I liked what he had to say about his views on the auto industry and agriculture, he seems to have a more firm view point on everything and knows how to speak what he wants to happen, I was very impressed.

You're more likely to see the forests left open for use by everyone under a Republican administration than a Democrat one. You'll also see the departments have less free will to bludgeon businesses and individuals into succumbing to what the bureaucrats have decided is important as opposed to the people and their elected representatives.

I think there's something to be said for harping on this issue with all candidates, but don't expect a serious answer, or at least not one that can't be wiggled out of. This is going to be an ugly, ugly gubernatorial election and both candidates will be careful about saying too much of anything to anyone about any one subject.

Having said that, we can have this discussion at the GLFWDA quarterly meeting this weekend. And maybe we should consider a questionnaire from GLFWDA to both candidates to consider which one we as an organization can/should endorse.

Default Maybe if we ALL call him . . .

Maybe if we ALL call him AND do the same with candidates for any office related to our hobby the issue might get a little more recognition.

Who is "he" anyway? I don't follow the State stuff like I should. I spend my efforts with the Manistee NF here where I live.

Where is MUCC in all this if he's "pro sportsman"?
The population (including hunters) is aging and becoming less and less able to get out and hike a half mile into the woods to get to their blind or other spot. It seems like they would be a HUGE untapped resourse if they could be allied with our cause. They need access too!

heres what i got...

Dear Mr. Woodard:

Thank you for your email. We appreciate your interest in the DeVos for Governor campaign.

The important issues regarding public land closures are ones that need to be addressed. At this time due to the high volume of contacts received, we cannot provide an immediate detailed response but will do so shortly.

Thank you again for taking the time to write and share your thoughts and concerns.

Sincerely,

DeVos Team

That sort of form letter is to be expected from both candidates. The true test will be how soon they send you a real response and whether it's a REAL response.

The Great Lakes Four Wheel Drive Association is submitting questionnaires to both gubernatorial candidates: Jennifer Granholm and Dick DeVos.

Check out the questionnaires and answers (once received) by visiting the Land Use forum at www.glfwda.org .

I thought i might just let you all know that I personally know Dick DeVos. Him and his wife are very close friends of my parents and wee see them all the time. I'm starting to speak with my parents about bringing this issue up as they were less than enthusiastic when the cops showed up at the house looking for a big blue - muddy - suburban. More areas for us to utilize for our recreation means (for the most part) less run-ins with the law. Wish me luck, and if anyone has something that will help (like statistics, proven info, etc), feel free to email me at BigBlueBurban94@yahoo.com
