Overnight passport through miami, then overnight multi-entry visa for china at the chicago embassy, then back to me today.

Took 5 days overall, not bad. LOL, then my trip got postponed, anyway (was supposed to be in Beijing tomorrow....)

:tonka: multiple entry :tonka:

Dunno, that figure was the passport cost, visa cost, paying a lacky to sit at the passport office, 3 separate fedex overnight ships, etc.

I think its around $100 for the 'emergency' visa 6 months multi entry.

Once we go, we'll be visiting Beijing, Nanking, Shanghai, and Hong Kong areas...

I'm sure it's business or he would have gotten his renewal beforehand. I had to do the same thing 15 or so years ago for an emergency trip to Germany. I'm sure the company is picking up the tab.

yep. Will only be there for 4 days, then back home. Well, its 27 hours of travel each way.

LOL, be an engineer, see the world. China, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Germany, 5 continents in 24 months..

Typically, I don't get the call to travel until 5-8 days before I have to leave. So we are always scrambling. I needed to renew it, but it was good through the end of april. But you can't get a chinese visa unless you have 6 months left on your passport, so had to scramble...

Yup, see the world. Been there, done that too. I had a short notice trip to South Africa. Sounds cool eh? Leave Monday morning at 4:00 am and travel 24 hours to get there. Since it's 8 hours different, I arrive at Johannasburg at noon Tuesday, their time. Another hour and a half to the town where we are staying. Check into the hotel, catch a couple hours of nap and shower. Then, it's dinner with the customer.

Wednesday morning it's into the steel mill till late afternoon. Back to the hotel, shower, drive around town for an hour sight seeing and dinner again. Thursday morning, check out, back into the mill, out at noon, customer shows us his home (nothing to talk about) & off to the airport. Another 24 hours or so and back home mid day on Friday.

And then people say, "cool, you got to go to Africa, did you see any lions or elephants?" It's like somebody coming to Detroit and back home they say "did you see any bears or moose?":miff:

I've had great trips overseas but the short notice ones suck.
