And yet another Heap.....
SOLD!!! 1979 CJ5 304, T-150, Dana 20, D30 / AMC20 complete running vehicle plus more!
SOLD SOLD SOLD!!! It's a sad day for me, but I need to move onto my next project (XJ). Sorry for the book, but I'm sure I'm still missing stuff that I've done / replaced....
Asking $2,500 or best offer. I will not part anything out at this point unless you want to pay $2,500 for the part and I will throw the rest in for free!
1979 CJ5, 304V8, T-150, Dana 20, current axles are stock dana 30 / AMC 20 with 3.07 ratio open, I have 4.10 gears for both and an Auburn LS for the AMC 20 (gears and locker not installed in rear. I have a D30 housing with the gears already set, just swap shafts, etc.), 33” x 12.5 x 15” Mud tires with 80%+ tread left mounted on 8” ‘soft 8’ black rims.
-previous owner ‘claims’ the motor (stock 304) was recently rebuilt. All I know is it runs very well and starts in all weather on the first crank with 2 pumps of the pedal. Does not burn anything (little stink when first started, not sure what) once at operating temp.
-the floor was completely replaced with 3/16 steel and Duraback’d. Looks pretty good and it’s very solid.
-Everything electrical works including wipers, lights (all dash lights except oil pressure gauge), turn signals, etc. All the gauges except the Volt meter work. The heat and defrost (including all HVAC controls) work awesome!
-Brand new (I mean like 25 miles new) Supertop w/soft half doors (cost me over $700)
-It’s all advantage wetlands Camoclad (good if you like camo!). No paint to worry about!
- I have the tubes to complete a front full cage (dash hoop and 4 front to back tubes). It’s a bit rusty, but it’s all there.
Below items replaced or rebuilt within 5,000 miles unless noted:
-Motorcraft 2100 completely rebuilt
-new performance coil, wires, cap, rotor (2,000 miles)
-rebuilt T-150 (all syncros and gears). Shifts ABSOLUTLY PERFECT!
-new clutch (stock)
-rebuilt Dana 20 transfer case
-new alternator (stock)
-new fan belt
-new upper / lower rad hoses, thermostat (160 deg), flush and new fluid (100 miles)
-new exhaust system from the manifold back (stock)
-new 2.5 inch 4wd hardware lift w/shocks
-1" inch poly body lift
-new HD shackles front and rear
-new JCR front bumper (POR’d black) w/Hela 500 lights (50 miles – lights not even hooked up yet)
-new Rear bumper (not sure the brand)
-new front and rear brake rebuilds (everything but front calipers – including rear cylinders, rotors / drums, etc.)
-new brake line from the proportioning valve back (crossmember to the axle)
-new manual steering box (100 miles)
-new front axle u-joints and pass outer shaft (100 miles)
-new front wheel bearings (100 miles)
-Sony explode CD player
-Center console from and a Durango with 2 nice Sony speakers installed.
- The frame is pooh-pooh. I drove it 5,000 miles with it in this condition last year without issue, but it has been heavily patched and needs to be replaced. I have a frame in VERY good condition that goes with the sale. Call me for details
- The body was in decent shape and pretty solid when I covered it 1 ½ years ago, but there was rust. I cutout and welded patches over the holes, and removed / replaced most of it that I could get to. There was rust in the usual spots along the rear bottom edge and other spots. Nothing too bad. The windshield frame is starting to bubble. You could find a new body or drive this one for years. I’ll let you be your own judge.
-It’s all advantage wetlands Camoclad (bad if you don’t like camo!)
All in all, everything is here except a new body to completely restore a 79 CJ (not to original specs of coarse). You find a body and move all these new parts to the new frame and throw on the body and you got yourself one heck of a nice CJ. As it sits, this jeep drives great. No wobble, shake or anything else at 70mph.I drove this many times over 150 miles from my house and never worried about it breaking down.
Please PM with any questions or if additonal pics are needed.
I am not interested in ANY trades unless it's a late model XJ with very low miles and in excellent condition.

It runs about $40 for a 4'x5' sheet and it took 3 to do the whole Cj with some left over. WWWAAAYYYYYYYY cheaper than paint! Even rattle can paint:tonka:
